A married high school football coach filmed himself raping an underage student, urinating on her and sexually abusing her while she was tied up, a court heard.
Antwone Washingotn, 45, appeared in court Wednesday on allegations that he sexually abused the girl while she worked at Valley High School in Las Vegas.
The court was told how police had found four videos of Washington sexually abusing the girl, including a clip of him urinating on his alleged victim.
Another saw him rape her from behind while the young man was gagged, tied and passed out, it was said.
One of the videos was filmed in Washington’s office, which was located in the boys’ locker room at Valley High, a judge was told.
The alleged Washington victim was under 16 but over 14 at the time of the alleged crimes.
The teacher, who is said to have admitted to having three girlfriends, was charged with nine felonies, including production of child pornography, legal sexual seduction, kidnapping and sexual solicitation.
Washington, who was the head football coach and campus safety monitor, appeared in court virtually Wednesday, where he admitted to having a sexual relationship with a minor and engaging in other disturbing acts.
During a court hearing, Clark County Chief Deputy Prosecutor William Rowles detailed Washington’s confession to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. Washington confessed to taking explicit photographs of several students, including one in a thong.
Antwone Washington, 45, was arrested and charged with nine felonies related to an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor.
He was the head football coach at Valley High School in Las Vegas.
He also admitted to having a disturbing role-playing fetish where “these girls are in his house and he’s their ‘dad’.”
An arrest report obtained by 8 news now revealed that Washington wrote a letter of apology.
His bail was set at $100,000. The case was transferred to Henderson Justice Court to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
The former coach initiated contact with the underage victim through her boyfriend. After connecting on Instagram earlier this year, their relationship turned sexual.
According to the prosecutor, school staff had observed other instances of inappropriate behavior by Washington, including prolonged hugs with students.
Given the seriousness of the charges and the risk to the community, prosecutors have requested bail of $500,000 for Washington.
“I think it says a lot about Mr. Washington’s standing within our community when he committed these crimes,” Rowles said. “When a person is put in the position that they’re in and violates that trust, I think that says a lot about the danger that they’re in our community.”
During a phone call from jail, Washington expressed concern to his wife about the possible prison sentence. The prosecutor alleges that Washington made troubling statements that implied suicide.
‘It is not a question of whether Mr. Washington is convicted in this matter. It’s not a question of whether he’s going to prison,” Rowles said. “It’s just a question of why he’s convicted and how long he’s going to be in prison.”
The former football coach appeared in court virtually on Wednesday
Washington’s defense attorney, Tyler Gaston, argued that Washington’s intentions were purely for mentoring and that he posed no flight risk or danger to the community.
Washington defense attorney Tyler Gaston painted a different picture of his client. Gaston argued that Washington’s intentions were purely mentoring and that he posed no flight risk or danger to the community.
He emphasized Washington’s strong ties to the community and his lack of a criminal record, and requested his release on his own recognizance.
Gastón questioned the seriousness of the charges against Washington, arguing that his client had already confessed to police and accepted responsibility. He pointed to Nevada state law, which suggests that people facing serious sexual crimes are often released on personal recognizance.
Gaston further stated that there was no evidence of sexual assault and that the investigation arose from a situation where the teenage victim was having sexual relations with the father of her 16-year-old boyfriend.
He also highlighted the teenager’s initial reluctance to identify Washington, suggesting she was worried about the impact on her family.
The defense emphasized that the age of consent in Nevada is 16 and the alleged victim was under that age. However, the specific details of the relationship and the nature of the acts involved remain central to the case.
Authorities compared the physical attributes of the man in the video to marks on Washington’s body, resulting in a match.
The teen initially refused to identify Washington because he had a wife and children.
Authorities found four videos of Washington having sexual relations with the teenager and one of them was in his school office.
The former coach would take the teen to his vehicle in the school parking lot to sexually abuse her, according to the arrest report.
According to Gaston, Washington admitted to having a polygamous relationship with three girlfriends.
The high school principal reported to police that Washington recently told another teacher that he had attended a swingers’ retreat.
Gibson ordered Washington placed under house arrest, with restrictions on contact with the alleged victim, minors and Clark County School District property.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 16.
