Zayn Malik embarks on his first solo tour, touring the UK and the US.
The One Direction star confirmed the exciting news during his appearance on US TV show Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night.
In his surprise appearance, the British singer handed Jimmy a note that read: “Hey Jimmy, great to see you mate. I’m doing my first solo tour this fall, so maybe when you’re done apple picking with your friends you can come and see my Stairway To The Sky tour in the US and UK.”
‘I’ll make an official announcement tomorrow morning, let me know what date you want tickets for.’
Zayn Malik embarks on his first solo tour in the UK and US in ten years.
Zayn recently performed at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, but this will be his first time doing a major tour since leaving One Direction.
The March performance in London was also the first time he took the stage since leaving the boy band.
He has scheduled live dates but then cancelled them in the years since leaving the successful boy band, which explains how his anxiety skyrockets when he’s on stage.
In his 2016 memoir, the singer reflected on his battle with stage fright and anxiety: “I found it really frustrating that even now that I was being honest about what the problem was, some people still found reasons to doubt me,” he said.
“But that’s the industry,” he said. He said being part of One Direction allowed him to overcome his anxiety, but as a solo artist he felt overwhelmed.
“As a solo artist, I felt much more exposed and the psychological stress of performing had become too much for me, at least at that time,” he wrote.
