Man will face court after allegedly running over several kangaroos in rural New South Wales (actions)

A young man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly running over and mauling several adult and baby kangaroos.

Police were called to investigate reports of animal cruelty in September after authorities located CCTV footage of an unknown vehicle deliberately running over kangaroos in Running Stream, 60 kilometers northwest of Lithgow in New South Wales.

Following investigations, a 20-year-old man from Balgowlah Heights, on Sydney’s northern beaches, on October 18.

He was accused of torture; hitting and seriously injuring animals; recklessly striking and seriously injuring an animal; and the driver will not reveal the identity of the driver/passenger as necessary.

Police allege that the man not only deliberately ran over the animals but also mutilated the body of one of the kangaroos.

The 20-year-old is due to dance at Manly Court on Wednesday.
