In an exclusive interview, James, 37, revealed what ultimately drove them apart and the anxiety of coming face to face with Yazmin after a year of not speaking.
“I will never say that we fell out of love, it was always there. It was more because of the pressure of the spotlight that separated us, being together on the show,” she said.
‘Being in that fishbowl together caused a lot of problems. At one point, it became too complicated. She did her thing and I did mine.
“We kept in touch off and on, but before the show we hadn’t been in touch for a year. We didn’t follow each other on Instagram. I hadn’t been in touch with her.”
In 2021, it was revealed that the couple had split “for good” after a series of furious fights and moved in separately in Dubai.
The couple reportedly mutually agreed to cut ties, with James planning to fly home while Yazmin stayed in the UAE.
James enjoyed a passionate romance with Love Island star Megan Barton Hanson, which they documented extensively on social media.
Meanwhile, Yazmin was in a relationship with Jake McLean last year.
Things ended in tragedy last year when he died in a horrific crash in Turkey while driving the reality star in a Mercedes E-Class under the influence of cocaine and almost three times over the blood alcohol limit.
The couple had been dating for about four years.
