Good news! The long-awaited first trailer for Wicked, the film version of the Broadway musical, has arrived.
Showcasing the impressive vocal talents of lead stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, it features snippets of classic songs Popular and Defying Gravity.
The film will be released in theaters on November 27 of this year and cost a whopping $145 million to make.
It has an all-star cast including Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Peter Dinklage and Bowen Yang.
It is directed by Jon M. Chu, the man responsible for the mega-hit Crazy Rich Asians.

The trailer showcases the impressive vocal talents of lead stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
The trailer begins with the pop star asking: ‘Are people born evil? Or has evil been imposed on them?
Her character, Galinda (later Glinda), meets Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) for the first time outside of Shiz University, where they are both studying magic.
Upon seeing Elphaba, who is rejected by the other students for her green skin, Grande’s character screams and says, “You’re green!”
“I am,” Elphaba replies.
The school principal proceeds to assign the girls as roommates, which does not seem to please Glinda, a popular student.
Once inside her bedroom, Glinda tells Elphaba that she saved some space for her things, but that she had taken up most of her room with racks of pink clothes.
‘Do you really think this is fair?’ Elphaba asks, to which Glinda replies: ‘I don’t. I was promised a private suite, but thanks for asking.
While the women end up becoming friends, their relationship starts off rocky, with Glinda pranking her into wearing a black witch hat, which she described as so ugly that she wouldn’t give it to anyone because she doesn’t “hate anyone that much.” .’
When people start laughing at Elphaba for wearing the hat at a party, Glinda gives her a comforting hug.
Later, when Elphaba is invited to meet The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the Emerald City, she asks Glinda to accompany her.

In January, Grande shared an emotional post about finishing filming Wicked, where she met her boyfriend Ethan Slater.
“I will never forget even a minute of my years with [Glinda]“he wrote on his Instagram story. ‘Or you. or my cyn [Cynthia Erivo]. Permanently and preferably intertwined,” he wrote at the time on Instagram.
She continued, “I am inexplicably grateful to have been able to add so many soaked lashes to the collection.”
The two-time Grammy winner thanked the film’s director, Jon M. Chu, and admitted that “there are still no words” to describe her emotions.
“Thank you, Jon, for leading the way with such compassion, openness, brilliance and kindness,” he concluded. ‘I’ve never seen anyone run a space like you do. I love you a lot.’
Her post was in response to Chu’s Instagram post, saying goodbye to their time together on set.
The film director, 44, declared that he would “never forget” his year working with Grande.
“I can’t wait for you to meet her,” he told his followers.
He concluded: “Thank you @arianagrande for putting your heart in Oz.”
The trailer features snippets of the classic songs Popular and Defying Gravity.

The film also stars Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, as well as Bowen Yang, Adam James, Keala Settle and Bronwyn James.

“I was just on the set of Wicked. I’m not supposed to talk about it. But it’s been out of character,” she said. ‘You should see our witches, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, doing great.’

She added: “I said, ‘What I want to encourage you to do, Ariana, is to make Glinda your Glinda.’ I want you to do it.’ I’ve known her since she was 10 and now I see the full circle of her.
‘She calls me [crying] like ‘I got it!’ I said ‘Oh my God, what?!’ We looked like dogs! But I’m very proud of her. ‘
Ariana regularly calls Kristin to tell her her ideas for her character and the ‘West Wing’ star “can’t wait” to see her on the big screen.
She said: ‘[Ariana] He calls me and says ‘This is what I have to do, what do you think?’ I can’t wait to see her do it. I can not wait. She just said, “Kristin, I’m going to go crazy on opening night.”
“So I said, ‘Stop, you’re going to be great!'”
