An exhausted trader fell asleep while getting a haircut and had to nap for three hours in a barbershop chair.

A kind-hearted barber posted a viral TikTok video of how he and his colleagues let an exhausted worker fall asleep for three hours in one of their chairs after seeing “the tired look in his eyes.”

Jordan Magasiva, who works for Barber Industries at the Westfield Kotara shopping center in Newcastle’s west, New South Wales, posted images of the bearded man in his hi-vis work gear, sound asleep, the head back slumped in the hair salon chair.

Mr Magasiva, 27, told Daily Mail Australia on Friday he let his regular client Billy sleep after getting his hair and beard cut on Wednesday because he was a “hard worker”.

“From the look on his face, he was really tired, so we all decided to let him sleep,” Mr. Magasiva said.

“It was definitely a team effort to make him as comfortable as possible. We even put a blanket over his eyes.

“He’s one of our good customers and he usually goes to the hairdresser. He is always in a good mood.

In the video, which has gained 6.6 million views, Jordan provides timestamps showing a dozing Billy in the chair at 3:14 p.m., and then at 5:38 p.m. when he wakes up and flashes a sheepish smile.

Billy’s first words when he woke up were, “What time is it?”

“He was in disbelief,” Mr. Magasiva said.

“He said ‘where is everyone?’ There was only one other customer in the store, but when he walked in there were many more. He was definitely surprised.

Mr Magasiva said Billy had come to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.

He quickly fell asleep shortly after the start of labor, which lasted about 30 minutes.

It’s not unusual for people to fall asleep in the barber’s chair, Mr. Magasiva said.

He said how he reacted to that depended on whether they fell asleep upside down or lounged forward.

“I usually try to wake them up a little,” Mr. Magasiva said.

“If I know they’re in high visibility and they’re just tired, you’d rather they didn’t go home in that condition.” I’m trying to check with them.

“I guess Billy felt really comfortable and I’m glad he slept for three hours.

“In our store, we really emphasize this type of family store. »

TikTokers were full of praise for the hairdresser for letting Billy turn a chair into a temporary bed.

“It’s so nice that you all did this for him.” He really needed that nap,” one person commented.

“Wow, that’s customer service!” Respect,” said another.

“It’s better for him to fall asleep in the chair than at the wheel, at a light.” “It’s cool to let him get some well-deserved rest before we go,” was another reaction.

Mr Magasiva said he was happy with the response because we “need more positivity”.

“One thing I really liked about the response was that people were really concerned and saying we’re all human,” he said.

“We all work hard. We are all tired.

As well as sleep-deprived swaps, Mr Magasiva also cuts the hair of NRL players at local team the Newcastle Knights.

“The Knights boys, they’re very consistent because they’re on TV a little bit,” Mr. Magasiva said.

On his Instagram, he shared a photo of himself cutting the hair of Newcastle superstar full-back Kalyn Ponga.

“He’s a great guy,” Mr. Magasiva said.

“He’s great, very humble and down to earth.”

Mr. Magasiva, who has six years of haircutting experience, says he has also fallen asleep during a haircut, but only in a very familiar and comfortable environment.

“Certainly at a hairdresser at home, rather in the garage, but in a busy shopping center? No, he said.

“I don’t understand how anyone could physically do that.”
