Call Mike Tyson’s fight at 58 a fraud a disgrace or a downright shame… but Jake Paul is the one at greatest risk of serious harm despite being 30 years younger

For a moment I thought I’d better check if Mike Tyson is older than me. After all, it seems like we’ve spent half our lives pitted against each other.

Of course, I’m about a quarter of a century older than him, but still the age difference is less than the 30 years between Iron Mike and Jake Paul. So when it was announced that these two would be fighting for each other for real this summer, the gut reaction was a huge sniff.

What is this? Father against son over a family fortune? Well, for the money, yes.

The jaw-dropping reaction around the world varies between fear for Tyson’s life and ridicule at boxing mocking itself once again. Even an obscenity.

Health and well-being concerns are understandable for a man of bus-passing age in the United States. But the more you think about it, maybe the anxiety should be focused on the other side of the ring.

Tyson isn’t one of the nobodies Paul has been attacking for fun and amusement since he transitioned from YouTube fights to a proper boxing appearance.

Even if I were 50 years younger, I wouldn’t want to take the potentially most decapitating blow in ring history.

Call it a sham, call it a fraud, a disgrace, or an absolute disgrace, all of which is an argument, but Master Paul is the one most at risk of serious harm.

Throughout his thunderous career, Tyson made a habit of knocking out proven heavyweights, often with a single sledgehammer. And the last thing a boxer loses is his punch.

Tyson wouldn’t be doing this, not even for the money, if he didn’t believe he had the chance to do the same to his young paymaster. There is a recent film of Tyson hitting the heavy bag padding in the gym.

Of course he would have to catch the kid, but he was always one of the fastest bullies in the world. He showed some of that when he trained UFC icon Francis Ngannou for his boxing debut in which he knocked down and nearly beat Tyson Fury.

This activity has returned him to good condition for his age. Mr. Tyson remains the last man any mugger would want to try his luck with in an alley.

Hopefully, he’ll continue to rake in the money from his massive Nevada cannabis ranch, but he’ll limit his taste for the product until July.

Should this event be happening? Preferably not, but it is likely to fill the largest National Football League stadium in the United States in Dallas. Will the medical profession be horrified? Safely. But maybe for the wrong reason.
