Taylor Swift approved of the Kansas City Chiefs' decision to draft Xavier Worthy

Taylor Swift approved of the Kansas City Chiefs’ decision to select Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The pop sensation, and girlfriend of Travis Kelce, has become an avid Chiefs fan in recent months thanks to her high-profile relationship with the three-time Super Bowl winner.

And it appears he’s closely following Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s preparations for next season, particularly which college prospects he’s recruiting.

That’s because Swift liked a Chiefs Instagram post that shows Worthy and his family celebrating the moment Kansas City drafted him.

Worthy wasn’t in Detroit, but was sitting at home with a large group of family and friends, who went crazy when his name was said.

Worthy was all smiles and quickly put on a Chiefs cap before hugging his loved ones.

Ecstatic Chiefs fans celebrated the selection by jokingly telling Swift to “move aside” for their newest recruit, weeks after he set the 40-yard dash record of 4.21 seconds at the NFL Combine.

Worthy’s speed means he looks to be a formidable asset for Patrick Mahomes and Kelce and the team sparked a social media frenzy by sharing their record-breaking 40-yard dash from the NFL Combine.

Worthy swept the board in an impressive 4.21 seconds at the NFL Combine while in Texas.

Chiefs fans were eager to welcome Worthy to Kansas City, commenting on the post: “Kid breaks the record and will get a Super Bowl ring in his first season.”

Another couldn’t help but make a reference to Taylor Swift, Kelce’s girlfriend: ‘Move, Taylor. Another Swift is coming!’

The Chiefs were supposed to pick last in the first round after winning their second straight Super Bowl and third in five years, but they managed to move up with one of their biggest AFC rivals.

Swift became a regular at Chiefs games last season alongside Kelce's mother, Donna.

The Chiefs sent the 32nd pick along with a fourth-rounder and a seventh-rounder to the Bills to get the 28th pick, a fourthrounder and a seventh-rounder.

It meant Andy Reid could give Mahomes a potential gem in Worthy, who is a quick, deep threat they’ve been lacking since Tyreek Hill left.

More than just a deep threat, Worthy showed promise as a route runner and reduced the number of drops last season, when he caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns.

“Listen, I like the wide receivers we have,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “but adding someone of this quality is important, or it’s a good move to strengthen him.” “I don’t want to put down the guys we have, but he’s a good addition.”

“We told Patrick,” Reid said with a smile. ‘Patrick is curious. He loves these things. It doesn’t matter if he is offensive or defensive. He loves the draft. He texts us and we communicate with him. He’s great with that.

‘It doesn’t hurt to have speed on the field. “We’ve operated without great speed on the field and we’ve done well, but if you have the opportunity to get someone who you think is a good player, you probably have to take it.”

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year with a wide receiver corps, and they were looking for help even before second-year pro Rashee Rice, their biggest breakout star from last season, became involved in legal trouble in Texas.

Dallas police allege that Rice was driving a Lamborghini at more than 100 mph when he and a friend, who was driving a Corvette, lost control and began a pileup that resulted in injuries to several people.

Rice left the scene without seeing if anyone was injured, but turned himself in when police issued arrest warrants for him. Rice has been released on bond and Reid has said he will continue to participate in the Chiefs’ offseason program as the legal situation develops.

The Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown in free agency and tight end Travis Kelce has been as productive as any wide receiver.

But otherwise, the Chiefs headed into summer with Justin Watson, Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore likely to go down, and journeymen like Montrell Washington rounding out the receiving corps.
