Widow appears to pay tribute to her late husband with bench plaque reading ‘Husband, Father, Adulterer – Yes, Roger, I knew’ (but is it for real?)

A mysterious plaque has appeared on a Bristol bench paying tribute to a “husband, father, adulterer”.

It appears to be a message to a deceased loved one since it begins with “For My Love.”

The inscription was spotted this morning on a bench on Royal York Crescent in the Clifton area.

The full message reads: “For my love. 06.09.69 – 25.12.23. Husband, father, adulterer. Yes, Roger, I knew that.

It is not known who Roger was or who commissioned the plaque in his honor.

The 63-year-old who spotted the plaque said: “I have to say I thought it was very funny when I saw it.

“Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned.”

Memorial plaques are often placed on benches in memory of lost loved ones – and this is in fact the second plaque attached to that same seat.

According to the plaque, Roger died on Christmas Day last year at the age of 54.
