Nostalgic Australians are rushing to Big W after discovering the store sells a popular toy from their childhood.

Shoppers are excited by the news that the new generation of Littlest Pet Shop toys have hit the retailer’s shelves, months after their launch in the US.

The adorable collectible animals come in pairs for $24 or trios for $19 and there are more than 65 varieties to collect.

A Melbourne customer shared her excitement about the launch online after seeing the toys in stores.

“This is your cue to RUN to Big W to buy the new LPS, for nostalgia’s sake,” they said.

Others were eager to get their hands on the collectible toys and shared which Big W stores they had seen them in.

“I NEED, oh my god, this is a sign that the world is healing now,” one woman said.

“I never got LPS growing up but I loved the TV show so this is literally healing my inner child,” wrote a second.

‘Thank you for posting this! “I’ve been waiting to see if they would be released in Australia considering the previous new ones were only released in the US,” a third responded.

‘My God. my little girl is so happy. I hope this continues so my children in the future can collect them,” added another.

Littlest Pet Shops toys are based on characters from the 1995 television show of the same name that were discontinued but relaunched in 2005.

The new Series One Generation Seven figures feature bobble-headed animals including a panda, a cat, an axolotl and an anteater.

Since the first release 20 years ago there have been several “generations” of toys with three series each.
