“Yes, we want to compete for places,” Moyes said. ‘I think we have that now. We have a few people waiting in line to try to break into the team and get out of the way.

In the absence of Antonio, who has scored three goals in his first six appearances of the season, West Ham has seen eight different players score their last eight goals.
Moyes said, ‘It’s good and I’m very happy with it, I didn’t really know that statistic, but I think it shows that we’re trying to get different people forward and different people in the box.
“ We’d like our striker to come in with the big numbers because that’s what you need at the end of the season, but I have to say I’ll be scoring goals wherever they come and I’m glad everyone has the chance to get a Few goals. ‘

“I think their recruitment has been excellent over the summer and I think it has given them a great opportunity to improve from last year.”
