The dog days are over, aren’t they?
A couple is debating whether to give their baby the same name as their future dog, but they can’t decide if it’s right or not.
The confession was made in a new post on reddit Page ‘Am I the idiot’, as the poster explained his dilemma?
“My partner and I were talking about names and we chose very thoughtful names for the first two, but we can’t agree on the name of the third,” the user wrote.
“The only name we really like and can agree on is the one we chose for our potential future dog. What happens when said child asks how he got his name in the future, after having told the other two how “were their names chosen so carefully?,” the post continued.

The confession was made in a new post on Reddit’s ‘Am I The A**hole’ page, as the poster explained his dilemma.
‘I don’t know, it just feels wrong to name our baby after a dog…’ the message concluded.
In the comments section, many users seemed to disagree with the poster that it could be a problem and encouraged them to use whatever name they wanted, even if it was their future puppy’s.
Commenters also determined that the poster was “not the asshole” or “NTA,” as Reddit users abbreviate it.
“Don’t think too much about it, it’ll probably become a family joke at some point.” “Although one day it will stop being ‘the name of our future dog’ and will simply be the name of your son,” one person wrote, explaining that they were named after a character in a movie, although he later realized that “he heard it bad”. .’
Someone else wrote: ‘NTA’. All you have to tell the child, if they ask you their name, is that it is a name that you and your spouse loved. You don’t need to tell the child, or anyone else, that it’s a name you were considering for a pet.’
“It’s totally understandable to feel conflicted about giving your child a name you initially intended for a dog,” someone else agreed. ‘Ultimately, what matters most is that you and your partner like the name and feel it suits your child. Names can have different meanings and associations over time, and your child will make the name their own. If it resonates with both of you, it could be a unique and special choice!’
However, one Redditor noted, “Depends on the name.” See, for me it’s the other way around, my dad wanted to name me Ella, but my parents ended up giving that name to a dog we had when I was 7 years old. If the name works for a human, then NTA.’
Another person joked: ‘NTA – I think we need more boys named Fido…’
