Cowboys winger and Maroons star Murray Taulagi’s heartwarming marriage proposal was accepted by his long-term partner Claudia Schroder during a romantic weekend getaway.
Taulagi, who has worked as an occupational therapy assistant since 2017, popped the question while on holiday in Whian Whian, 25 kilometres north of Lismore in the Northern Rivers hinterland.
On Monday, Schroder shared a post on social media announcing the happy news, captioning it: “Forever yours 08.31.24.”
The post, which included photos of the smiling couple and the engagement ring, sparked an avalanche of comments congratulating the couple.
“Yieeewww! Congrats guys!” Cowboys teammate Valentine Holmes posted.
Xavier Coates, Harry Grant and Reece Walsh also posted similar messages.
Taulagi has become an integral part of the Cowboys’ squad in recent years, terrorizing opposing teams with his speed and skill.
The Cowboys hope to secure a home-field berth in the final round of the regular season when they face the Bulldogs.

Schroder shared a post on social media announcing the happy news on Monday.
The talented winger has become an integral part of the Cowboys’ team in recent years.
The winner will finish fifth and host a knockout semi-final, while the loser will rely on Manly being beaten by Cronulla on Sunday to remain sixth and also host a final.
The Cowboys beat a short-handed Melbourne 38-30 last week but need to play better against the Dogs.
The club have renewed the contract of co-captain Reuben Cotter for a further three years, which will keep him in Townsville until the end of 2028.
Taulagi said Cotter “embodies what it means to be a Cowboy, not only on the field but off it as well.”
“You want that kid on your team. You don’t want to play against him. I’m very fortunate to have grown up in the ranks with him,” Taulagi said.
The couple were on holiday in the New South Wales town of Whian Whian over the weekend.
Friends, family and fellow footballers congratulated the happy couple.
The Cowboys are hoping to make it to a home finale when they take on the Bulldogs this weekend.
“We’ve represented Origin and Australia together. No matter what jersey he puts on, he gives it 100 per cent and for him to be our captain until 2028… we’re very lucky.”
Cotter was never going to leave.
“For me and my family it was a no-brainer,” Cotter said.
‘My wife is from Burdekin and I’m from Mackay so it made sense for me to stay here and I’m really excited to extend my relationship with the club.
‘I’m very grateful for what has happened in the last few years, especially after what happened (with injuries) at the beginning of my career.
“I’m excited about what we’re building. I love playing with this group and what we’re working towards… obviously, a title.”
Cotter was not naturally gifted at football, but his commitment and selflessness have made him a player that all his colleagues want to play with.
“I never had much skill. I was a worker as a kid and that’s something I always wanted to base my game on as I grew up,” he said.
