Violence has marred a women’s soccer match in Canberra after a spectator ran onto the pitch to confront a female player, sparking a fight.

Canberra Region Rugby League officials are investigating an unpleasant brawl during the Bungendore Kangaroos’ match against the West Belconnen Warriors in the first grade women’s rugby league competition at Kippax.

Footage of the incident, which was recorded during Katrina Fanning’s Shield livestream over the weekend, surfaced on social media.

The Warriors were leading 48-0 in the Round 14 match when the Kangaroos were awarded a penalty in the 46th minute.

A brawl broke out involving players from both teams and ended with one player from each side being sent off and one Kangaroos player being sent off.

The pair soon broke up, but another fight soon began, prompting other players to rush in to get involved.
