Four people have been hospitalized after five men broke into their home and attacked them.

At about 1:15 am Saturday, NSW police and emergency services were called to a house on Forbes Street in Muswellbrook following reports of aggravated robbery.

Police were told that five men, wearing balaclavas, broke into the residence and demanded money.

They reportedly carried weapons such as machetes, knives, hammers and a stake and began attacking the four residents inside the house.
