Four people hospitalized after being attacked with machetes in a terrifying home invasion

Four people have been hospitalized after five men broke into their home and attacked them.
At about 1:15 am Saturday, NSW police and emergency services were called to a house on Forbes Street in Muswellbrook following reports of aggravated robbery.
Police were told that five men, wearing balaclavas, broke into the residence and demanded money.
They reportedly carried weapons such as machetes, knives, hammers and a stake and began attacking the four residents inside the house.

A 59-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were treated at the scene before being transferred to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle for further treatment.
The injuries sustained were not considered life-threatening, but they included a suspected skull fracture, broken jaw, broken arm and lacerations.
Two dogs were also attacked at home and had to be treated by a vet after being beaten with machetes.
They are reportedly in stable condition.
Officers from the Hunter Valley Police Department have located a crime scene and have launched an investigation.
