Australia rocked by another alleged shopping mall stabbing as police swoop to arrest teenagers

A teenager was stabbed after men allegedly armed with machetes fought in another knife attack at an Australian shopping centre.

In the latest incident, a knife fight between six men occurred near a cinema inside the shopping center in Maribyrnong, in Melbourne’s north, at 6.10pm, police allege.

The mass attack is then alleged to have spread to a nearby restaurant, before police and security guards in stab vests arrived on the scene.

“Highpoint security staff were alerted to an incident that took place on level one of the center and security officers arrived on scene immediately,” a shopping center spokesperson said.

‘Victoria Police were called and arrived within minutes.

“We are assisting Victoria Police with their investigations and as this is now a police matter we cannot offer any further comment.

“The safety of all visitors, retailers and staff is our top priority at all times.”

An 18-year-old man from St Albans was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds to his arm.

Three other teens, ages 17 and 18, were arrested at the scene, and the 17-year-old was charged with multiple assault and weapons charges.

He was released on bail and will return to juvenile court at a later date.

The incident comes after a 19-year-old man was arrested and charged following an alleged stabbing at the popular shopping center on Sunday.

The alleged stabbing in the city’s west took place around 2:30 p.m., police said, and two men were involved in the altercation inside a restaurant.

A 19-year-old man suffered suspected stab wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment by paramedics.

The Deanside man remains in a serious condition.

Police officers arrested the alleged offender at an address on Caroline Springs Boulevard in Caroline Springs on Tuesday morning.

The 19-year-old has been charged with crimes of intentional injury, fights and weapons.
