Vernon Kay has jokingly responded to fans who questioned his choice of outfit at Wimbledon after attending the men’s final on Sunday.

The former TV actor, 50, looked dapper as he attended the event at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in south-west London alongside his daughter Phoebe.

The 50-year-old presenter, who shares a 19-year-old daughter with Tess Daly, beamed as he proudly posed with his daughter before heading off to enjoy the final day of the annual sporting event.

Vernon shared a snap from her day on Instagram, writing: “@wimbledon @emirates The final was so good! Let’s go!”

Interestingly, some of the star’s 891,000 followers were more focused on Vernon’s outfit choice than what was happening at the sporting event, taking to the comments to make jokes about his tight-fitting shirt.

“Is that a puffer top?” one fan wrote, alongside a laughing emoji. Others joked: “You’ve got your medium tee on @vernonkay.”

“I see you’re wearing the medium tee! You look good, @vernonkay.” “Mmm, what a nice fitted tee, Vern, that goes really well with your tight briefs.” “You’re wearing a medium tee, @vernonkay.”

‘Is that shirt tight enough?’; ‘Is the top tight enough?’

Vernon was quick to respond to fans and address the joyous influx of comments during his BBC Radio 2 programme on Monday, admitting that “a lot of people” commented on her fashion choice.

He said: ‘It’s a strange morning, it doesn’t feel like a Monday morning after a big weekend of sport.

‘I went to a couple of barbecues and yesterday I was invited to a big barbecue for the game.

‘I went to Wimbledon, I posted a picture of myself outside Wimbledon, outside Centre Court, and a lot of people commented on the medium t-shirt.

‘I went with the medium. Someone said, “Are you wearing a padded shirt, Vern?” and I said, “Yeah, padded to the gills.”

Despite the “padded shirt” comments, Vernon appeared in good spirits Sunday as he made his way to star-studded Centre Court to watch a grueling match between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Her daughter Phoebe, 19, looked lovely in a strappy white mini dress, accessorised with PVC mules with white leather detailing and a multi-print shoulder bag.

Phoebe is the eldest of the couple’s two children and, along with her 14-year-old sister Amber, has enjoyed a childhood out of the spotlight.

However, since turning 18 last year, she has begun to appear in the public eye, making her red carpet debut alongside her father at the premiere of John Wick Chapter 4 last March.

Vernon previously revealed that he and Tess insist their children do not live off their fame and should pursue “their own careers”.

It’s a big factor for the celebrity duo, who rose to fame after being discovered as models and then transitioned to television.

Speaking to MailOnline in 2022, Vernon said he and his wife believe it is important for their children to “find themselves” and not have their “life handed to them on a plate”, and credited the couple’s northern backgrounds for shaping his beliefs on parenting.

Vernon said: ‘We allow them to be independent when it comes to themselves and their future because it is important to allow them to find themselves, which builds character and personality development.

Vernon was quick to respond to fans and addressed the light-hearted onslaught of comments during his BBC Radio 2 show on Monday.

‘Sometimes I think that the old silver spoon and life on a platter in front of them… I think that’s quite contradictory to how you want them to be.

‘Tess and I grew up in strong, healthy northern families, and that’s a huge trait that helped us in our personal development and I think it’s very important.’

Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton were dressed in Ralph Lauren as they made a rare public appearance together on day 14 of the competition.
