This project delves into the life of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, whom Cooper himself plays in the film, in addition to writing and directing.
The film follows Bernstein’s lifelong relationship with his muse, actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein (Carey Mulligan).
The film premiered at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Lion.
Maestro had a limited theatrical run to qualify for the Oscars and other awards, before debuting on the Netflix streaming service in November.
