Vanessa Hudgens revealed that “rude” pregnancy speculation from fans after her 2023 bachelorette party made her feel “fat.”
The High School Musical star, 35, opened up about how the comments detracted from what was supposed to be the “happiest” moment of her life, in the series’ latest episode. She turns podcast.
At the time, the actress was enjoying a getaway with friends in Aspen ahead of her wedding to now-husband Cole Tucker, 27, but comments on the video she shared of the festivities focused primarily on whether she was pregnant.
“I feel like I literally had a run-in with the public taking control of their opinion of me in a disrespectful way,” Austin Butler’s ex said.
“I was out at my bachelorette party and I posted a video of myself and there are all these comments saying, ‘Oh my god. You’re pregnant.’ And I’m like, that’s so rude. I’m sorry, I don’t wear Spanx every day, I’m a real woman and I have a real body.’

The star, 35, opened up about how the comments detracted from what was supposed to be the “happiest” moment of her life, in the new episode of the She Pivots podcast; seen at her bachelorette party celebration
She added: “I’m literally celebrating one of the happiest moments of my life and you guys are going to make me feel fat.” Brilliant. Thank you.’
Hudgens went on to discuss “the four agreements” that women should abide by.
“One of them is not making assumptions… in all aspects of life, but especially in other women’s bodies,” she said.
“We deal a lot with other people trying to control our bodies, let’s not make assumptions about other women’s bodies too.”
In her original bachelorette party video, Vanessa was wearing a lot of baggy clothes and many of her followers were quick to ask her if she was pregnant in the comments section.
However, Vanessa wasn’t too pleased with the speculation and responded, “(rolling eyes emoji) she’s not pregnant so everyone can stop.”
There were many commenters who came to the conclusion that she was pregnant by the baseball player, as one wrote “OMG she’s pregnant” and another said “she’s actually pregnant.”
Others came to Vanessa’s defense with one saying: ‘For those who comment on pregnancy it is rude. We are humans! She’s happy, so please don’t comment on her body if you don’t want anyone to ask.’

Vanessa wasn’t too pleased with the speculation at the time, as she responded, “(Eyes rolling emoji) she’s not pregnant so everyone can stop.”
Vanessa’s video post featured several fun clips from the trip with her friends, including one of her wearing a white silk wedding dress paired with a long coat.
A telltale sign that should have shown her followers that she is not pregnant is that she opened a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne in the clip.
Hudgens met Cole during a Zoom meditation session during lockdown.
She married an MLB player last December, after three years of dating.
Elsewhere in the podcast, Vanessa shared that she was “grateful” for her split from Dune star Austin Butler, 32, as she ended up meeting her forever person shortly after: her husband Cole.
Hudgens split from Butler after nearly 10 years together in 2020.
As painful as her breakup with Butler was at the time, she can now reframe the split as a positive given that she began a relationship with her now-husband shortly after.
“I feel like my last breakup has really catapulted me to a very, very special place, obviously. You pushed me towards the right person!
She married an MLB player last December, after three years of dating; Vanessa and Cole are seen in Santa Monica back in February 2022.

Meanwhile, Butler also moved on and began a relationship with model Kaia Gerber.
Vanessa’s comment about her ex came after she was asked how certain setbacks led to her current success: “I feel like a lot of my character was built from my breakups,” she said.
“Also, I think the tenacity that I have is like starting my career at such a young age and dealing with so much rejection that you really have to build a very strong backbone to keep doing it when everyone tells you no.” That strengthens character a lot.”
