It has been a dizzying campaign to Valerie Bertinelli since she began promoting her new cookbook, Indulge: Delicious And Decadent Dishes To Enjoy And Share last November.

Now, about six weeks after her official release, the One Day At A Time alum, 64, announced that she needs a break from social media.

“The last six weeks have been… A LOT,” Bertinelli admitted on Instagram this week. “And while I’m incredibly grateful for all his support of my book and everyone I’ve been lucky enough to meet, this introvert masquerading as an extrovert needs a mental health break from him.”

He continued: ‘I know, I know, this is not an airport, I don’t need to announce my departure. I just know that some of you worry about me if I don’t post often enough.’

Reassuring her 1.6 million followers, Valerie added that “taking a little social media cleanse/detox and a mental health break is a good thing.”

Bertinelli maintains his view that making the decision to take time off is a sign of a healthy mind and disposition.

“I’m grateful to be in a place in my life where I’m aware enough to know when I’m overwhelmed and mentally or emotionally exhausted,” she shared, before concluding her announcement.

‘Take care of everyone. I’ll be back before you know it,” the ex-wife of the late rock legend Eddie Van Halen concluded in the social media message.

The actress revealed that she wrote, “Enjoy this last year of healing, as I search and find my true self,” in an Instagram post on February 24, shortly after receiving her first hardcover copy.

Indulge includes a collection of 100 recipes to help nourish body and soul, as well as personal essays from Bertinelli.

“Yes, it’s a cookbook, but it’s so much more,” he said in the video. “I have essays here about finding my joy – maybe I can help you find your joy by being intentional about it – and there are some really great recipes in here too.”

He added: “I hope that some of my essays also help you find your joy, your purpose and, dare I say, help you ‘enjoy’ the life you deserve.”

“With this cookbook, Valerie shares her secrets to enjoying cooking so her fans too can start living their best, fullest lives,” a synopsis of good readings starts.

‘Whether it’s splurging on some fresh produce at the farmers market, cooking an extravagant steak for a dinner party, or serving an ice cream bar at a dinner party, this book is a reminder that indulging can take many forms.
