An American woman living in the UK has gone viral with a video highlighting British customs that “wouldn’t work” in the US.

Lisa Dollan, 39, is originally from Atlanta, Georgia but now lives in Leeds and has noticed significant differences in the way people behave in the two countries.

She shared her observations in a hilarious TikTok video which has been viewed more than 3.5 million times.

The mum-of-one, who posts under the handle @yorkshirepeach, even claimed simple practices like a car MOT ‘wouldn’t happen’ across the pond.

However, the clip sparked some reaction from US viewers who claimed that such things were only true in some parts of the US.

Lisa started the clip by talking about Brits leaving parcels with their neighbours.

“I didn’t even know that was a thing until I moved here,” she said. ‘No chance. Wouldn’t work.’

She said of the British driving test: ‘How difficult it is. No chance. It wouldn’t work in the United States.

Lisa also gave a funny warning to kids who might want to try the “knock and run” game in the US, saying, “Please don’t do this in America because if you go into someone’s property they could, you know… ‘

Lisa continued: ”Americans tell them to have their cars MOT tested every year. No chance. You should see the condition of the cars we drive around.

“Maybe it’s something in some states…not where I’m from.

“You could drive around with your bumper off, a flat tire. It does not matter.’

Finally she added: ‘Alcohol served in a cinema, in a cinema, no chance.’

Viewers were divided on the observations, with some Americans insisting that the equivalent of car APKs or the knock-and-run game exists in their hometown.

One posted: ‘Alcohol is served in many movie theaters in America…’

Another wrote: ‘I love these videos, but how come you can’t leave a package with a neighbor? American neighbors in movies look so friendly!’

A third added: “It’s very interesting and your videos show how different they are. I’ve lived in New York and FL, I can leave packages with neighbors in both.”
