United States and Canada residents celebrate 420 days after ten states have legalized recreational weed

United States and Canada residents celebrate 420 days after ten US states have legalized recreational weed and another 14 have decriminalized the drug.

Pot leaders attended major public events in Denver, Colorado, San Francisco, California, and the National Cannabis Festival in Washington, DC to blow up together.

The celebrations were larger this year than ever after ten US states and Washington DC have legalized recreational marijuana in recent years, with much more decriminalization.

Smokers posted their festivities online, because marijuana users celebrated their love for the medicine on April 20.

Stoners have celebrated their love of medicine for decades on this day, but the once counterculture celebration that was now about getting stoned is so mainstream that American business is starting to embrace it.

In Canada this was the first 420 days since the country legalized the recreational pot at the end of last year.

WHAT IS 4/20 DAY?

April 20 is an annual holiday celebrated by marijuana lovers in the US and the rest of the world.

Although the origin of & # 39; 420 & # 39; if marijuana smoking numeric code is downy and disputed, some believe it came into being with a group of high school friends in California, California, who would meet at 4.20 p.m. to smoke weed after class.

On Saturday, Lyft offered a $ 4.20 credit on a one-way trip in Colorado and in selected cities in the United States and Canada.

Carl & # 39; s Jr. uses a Denver restaurant to market a hamburger that is infused with CBD, a non-intoxicating molecule found in cannabis that many believe to be beneficial to their health.

Marijuana standardization has had a snowball effect since 2012, when Colorado and Washington were the first states to legalize recreational use. Eight more followed, including California, Oregon and Michigan.

Medical marijuana is now legal in two thirds of the states, with Utah and Oklahoma conservatively leaning on recent additions.

In the meantime, the CBD market has exploded. CBD oil can be found in sweets, coffee and other food, drinks and nutritional supplements, along with perfume, lotions, creams and soap. Proponents say CBD helps with pain, anxiety and inflammation, although limited scientific research supports these claims.

US retail sales of cannabis products increased to $ 10.5 billion last year, a three-fold increase compared to 2017, according to data from Arcview Group, a cannabis investment and market research company. The figures do not include the retail sale of hemp-derived CBD products.

Verano Holdings, whose activities include cannabis stores, sponsors street festivals in Chicago and Tulsa, Oklahoma, where visitors can learn more about marijuana products, listen to music and have a bite to eat.

The company expects the Saturday festival in Chicago, which is being held for the third year, to attract more than 4,000 people. Last year it was 1500, said Tim Tennant, chief marketing officer of Verano.

Hippie Hill will once again be the location of a 420 party in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Last year more than 15,000 attended the event, which has evolved from a small informal gathering to a full festival of corporate sponsors and commercial stands selling smokers' appliances, T-shirts and food.

When pot-heads met April 20 meant big business for the dispensaries in the states where it is legal.

It was the first year that Canadians could use recreational marijuana after an almost eternal ban.

Thousands celebrated in Vancouver, British Columbia after the country was officially the first industrialized nation to legalize the drug in October 2018 after a two-year push by the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, trying to bring the black market dealers to a regulated country system.

Countries around the world, many of whom only approve medical marijuana, are monitoring Canadian recreational legalization, which combines federal rules with different provincial regulations.

The move is a political victory for Trudeau, who promised to legalize cannabis in his 2015 election campaign to make a profit from organized crime and to regulate the production, distribution and consumption of a product that millions of Canadians have illegally consumed.
