Ms. Farver was last seen on November 13, 2012 by Kroupa when she left her apartment and went to work.
A few hours later, Kroupa received a text from Cari asking him to move in together, even though the two wanted to remain casual.

In 2015, no one had seen Cari for two and a half years and, intrigued by the case, he was taken on by Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office investigator Ryan Avis and Sergeant Jim Doty.
The investigation found that Golyar had not only murdered Farver but had also kept her phone to impersonate her online.

Another photo, which helped clear up more doubts, showed a foot with a tattoo of a Chinese symbol that matched the one Farver had on his body.
It was later determined that Golar stabbed Farver to death 24 hours before his disappearance.
