UFC flyweight Andre Lima was bitten by his opponent in a fight over the weekend, but he actually feels sorry for Igor Severino now that he’s lost his job.
Severino, 20, was making his UFC debut in Las Vegas when, about halfway through the fight, he bit Lima’s arm, leaving visible marks and prompting screams of pain from Lima.
That bite meant Severino was disqualified, and UFC president Dana White soon removed him from the roster. That’s something Lima really feels sorry for.
“I’m really sorry, to be honest,” Lima told TMZ Sports on Monday. ‘I’m sad for him because he came from the same struggle as me. He has a family… a bright future.
‘I feel very sorry for him because I know that the same journey that I have had, he has also taken. I feel bad for him.’
André Lima says he feels sorry for his opponent Igor Severino, despite having been bitten by him
Severino and Lima were pinned against the cage before Lima started screaming.
Severino, who was making his UFC debut, attempted to deny that he had bitten his opponent.
Lima got a strange tattoo of the bite marks left on his arm and a $50,000 bonus from Dana White
Lima even said he is interested in a rematch with Severino, in the possibility of him ever being allowed to return to the UFC.
To top it all off, Lima got a tattoo of the bite mark Severino left on her arm and received a $50,000 bonus from White for going through the trauma.
“I want to help my mom and some people in my family,” Lima told TMZ when asked what he was going to do with the money.
‘I want to buy a car. That’s something I’ve wanted for a long time and now I can buy my car.’
Lima hopes this incident is not what he remembers: he says he wants to become world champion.
