Two people are on the run after crashing a stolen Audi into a B-Double truck, causing a serious crash that injured a man and closed a busy highway.

The collision about 8.15pm on Tuesday on the Logan Highway in Loganlea, Queensland, caused the truck to burst into flames.

Witnesses reported seeing the couple fleeing the wreckage of the stolen vehicle.

The dangerous smoke prompted the creation of an exclusion zone at the crash site near Kingston Road and the ramps at Wembley Road and Station Road, which was lifted on Wednesday morning.

The truck driver, aged in his 50s, was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
