An Italian man who discovered his heavily pregnant girlfriend had reunited with her secret British lover told a Milan court on Monday how he stabbed his partner 37 times as she lay in the bathroom.
Bartender Alessandro Impagnetiello, 31, confessed to the brutal murder of his girlfriend Giulia Tramontano, 29, who was seven months pregnant, after she met her undercover lover last year.
This second lover, a British-Italian waitress, contacted Giulia after learning of Impagnetiello’s affair.
The jaded women met on May 27, 2023 to swap stories about what the Briton described to police as the barman’s “psychological abuse”, and moving CCTV footage captured the moment the pair shared a heartfelt hug on their way out. of the meeting.
But Impagnetiello attacked his pregnant girlfriend a few hours later, burst into the bathroom and brutally slashed her with a knife while she was bathing.

The anonymous British-Italian waitress, 23, had been in a relationship with Alessandro Impagnatiello, 31, (pictured) for around a year before discovering he had a pregnant girlfriend.
Prosecutors say Impagnetiello decided to kill Giulia when the 23-year-old Briton, who was also dating him, contacted her and discovered he already had a pregnant girlfriend.
The waitress, who was not named at trial, contacted Giulia after learning of Impagnatiello’s double life and the two confided in each other about his abusive behavior.
Even after discovering that Impagnatiello was cheating on her, it is understood that Giulia had decided to continue living with him “as long as necessary” for the sake of her unborn child.
But just hours after returning from meeting Impagnetiello’s lover, the father of her unborn child killed her in the frenzied knife attack.
In a shocking confession, the killer told the Milan court on Monday: “I killed Giulia Tramontano but I don’t know why.” The number of stab wounds will always haunt me.

“I was having lunch at my mother’s house with the body in the car,” he admitted in court.

The court previously heard how Impagnetiello had collapsed during police questioning and led officers to the location where he had hidden her body.
After carrying out the ruthless attack, he burned her body in a bathroom before hiding the remains in a garage and then a basement.
A day later, he reported her missing to the police.
Then, in an attempt to throw off investigators, he burned several of Giulia’s personal effects, discarded her identification and passport, and sent text messages to her phone asking her where she was and begging her to come back.
He tried to claim that Giulia had left him after discovering their secret relationship and that he was worried about her disappearance.
But the waiter could not continue with the trick and finally confessed to investigators days after carrying out the murder.

It later emerged that Impagnatiello’s British lover became suspicious and alerted the police after receiving unusual messages from Giulia’s phone.
“He was writing messages in a different way than he had done before,” the waitress told police, according to the Italian news service ANSA.
It was later revealed that Impagnetiello had sent suspicious messages to his British lover from Giulia’s phone after stabbing her to death.
Police also say the waiter had given Giulia rat poison for months before her eventual murder, hoping to cause a miscarriage after she told him she was pregnant.
Investigators discovered that Impagnetiello had conducted online searches for “ammonia fetus,” “rat poison” and “how much rat poison does it take to kill a person” when they searched his phone and devices.
She had also purchased chloroform under a false name, and Giulia complained to friends and family about feeling “high”, the court heard.
Impagnetiello admits aggravated voluntary manslaughter, concealment of a corpse and non-consensual abortion, local media reported.
