Tommy Fury has pulled out of his highly anticipated showdown with Darren Till, claiming the former UFC welterweight title challenger refuses to “comply with the rules of professional boxing.”

The pair, who were scheduled to meet at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester on January 18, had exchanged insults, with Till claiming he had kicked Fury’s younger brother in the head.

This threat appears to have led Fury, whose last fight was a unanimous decision against YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI last October, to drop out of the competition.

“For the simple reason that Darren has stated time and time again that he does not want to abide by the rules of professional boxing and that if he loses the fight he will resort to kicks and other stupid MMA tactics.” The 25-year-old wrote on Instagram.

‘I’m a professional boxer, I’ve been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I’ve missed weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date.

‘I promise to get a better opponent and a better fight for you. Good news around the corner.

The outspoken Till quickly responded to Fury, the younger brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson, labeling him and his father John trash and insisting he did not need to “throw kicks” to win the contest.

“I was selling the fight to make me and you more money, absolutely empty head, fight family, my ass, you and your father, shit,” Till wrote on X. “I don’t need to throw kicks you were taking.” I knocked out Spark, divivy. We were making money in this fight because I wasn’t you.

‘I was building it, you should be fighting and you should thank me. Over and over again…no one wants to fight me…Jake Paul, what are you doing, you fat fool?

During a heated pre-fight press conference last month, Till traded insults with Fury, before the latter’s father, John, was seen throwing water in the former UFC fighter’s direction.

However, it had limited effect as Tommy was left soaked by his father, but it still angered Till, who was seen attempting to attack the 59-year-old.

The Liverpool player was held back by security guards, and John showed no signs of backing down as he looked to confront his son’s opponent after removing his jacket.

Until then they seemed to continue their confrontation on social media after publishing John Fury’s phone number.

The 31-year-old posted a mobile phone number for his followers on X, formerly Twitter, and added the message “Thank you John Fury.”

Till eventually deleted his post, which had been viewed more than 10,000 times, but fans were quick to respond and question the validity of the number.

Till’s social media post came a day after he vowed to “terrorize him (John Fury) and his entire family” in the lead-up to his fight with Tommy on January 18.

“I’ve never seen the Furys fuck each other like that, the Furys were intimidated,” Till reflected on the chaos of the press conference on The Ariel Helwani Show.

You can’t call someone crazy who just left the press conference, no one stopped (John Fury). I had 10 security elements holding me back. What did he do? Nothing.

‘I’m going to terrorize him and his entire family for the next nine fucking weeks. Nobody is going to do anything about it.

“I wanted the confrontation. Nobody was stopping John Fury. He could have done something right then and there. So at the end of the day, man, they were terrified.
