Chet Hanks wowed fans with his voice after taking to the stage to perform in front of an audience for the first time, and viewers were so impressed that they begged him to break into country music.
In the latest episode of MTV’s The Surreal Life, the 33-year-old rapper, son of Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, took part in a talent show where he showed off his impressive vocal ability.
Accompanied by actor Tyler Posey, 32, on guitar, Chet (real name Chester) performed a song called Leaving Hollywood and quickly wowed the crowd with his “beautiful” voice.
Speaking in his confessional ahead of his debut, Chet admitted: ‘I have experience rapping, and singing is not like rapping.
“You have to really open your heart and show your soul to people.”

On the latest episode of MTV’s The Surreal Life, the 33-year-old rapper performed a ballad titled Leaving Hollywood.
“Once you get in front of a crowd, you get those butterflies, those nervousness,” he continued.
“You have to be able to control your breathing. This is the first time I’ve ever sung in front of an audience. That requires a completely different level of concentration for me.”
Fortunately, Chet’s nerves got the better of him and he soon had the crowd cheering.
Figure skater Johnny Weir was among those stunned by Chet’s voice, commenting: “Who would have thought Chester was such a great singer?”
Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke, who joined Chet on stage, added: “I didn’t expect Chet to have a voice like that.”
And it wasn’t just the Surreal Life celebrities who were impressed by Chet’s voice, viewers were also stunned by his talent.
As for X, one said: “OMG Chet Hanks can legit sing? I think out of all the cast mates he is proving to be the most different from his celebrity persona and I am here to support him.”
Another wrote the same: “Chet Hanks should pursue country music. He has the voice for it.”

It wasn’t just the Surreal Life celebrities who were impressed by Chet’s voice, as viewers were also stunned by his talent.
A third continued: ‘Um Chet, drop that song you performed at the contest. I’ll be keeping an eye out for your country music!’
“I was already in love with Chet Hanks and now he sings like a 90s rock singer?” a fourth said, while a fifth added: “Chet can sing.”
Chet is no stranger to the music industry, having recorded his first rap song, White and Purple, in 2011 while he was a student at Northwestern University.
A decade later, in 2021, he revealed that he had signed to Soulja Boy’s record label, SODMG Records.
Chet, whose real name is Chester, is the son of Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks.

“We about to make history, you know what I mean!” exclaimed Soulja Boy, who shared a video of himself and Chet on Instagram announcing the news.
That same year, Chet released a new song titled White Boy Summer under the alias Chet Hanx.
The song was inspired by Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot Girl Summer campaign.
At the time, Chet clarified that the name of his “movement” is not racial in nature and that he is not talking about “Trump-type white people and Nascar.”
The phrase raised some eyebrows despite his claim that it was “good vibes.”
