Tokyo Games poster girl Naomi Osaka STUNNED as she is blown away in straight sets by former French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova
Naomi Osaka’s bid to become the first ever Japanese player to win Olympic gold came to an abrupt halt when she was defeated in straight sets by Marketa Vondrousova in the last 16.
World No. 2 Osaka was considered the tournament favorite when Wimbledon champion and No. 1 Ash Barty suffered a first-round shock.
But Vondrousova, who reached the final of the French Open in 2019, was relentless in her performance and after winning the first set 6-1 in just 24 minutes, she kept her nerve in the second set to come out with 6 -1, 6-4 winner.
