Today Extra hosts Sylvia Jeffreys and Richard Wilkins shocked viewers on Friday when they tried a “disgusting” food combination currently trending on TikTok.
Co-host David Campbell, 50, told colleagues that a current food challenge was trending and saw people eating KitKat chocolate bars dipped in tomato sauce.
Campbell cheekily told his co-stars that, as a vegan, he wouldn’t be participating in the challenge and then presented them with KitKat bars to dip into the popular condiment.
“Apparently the food combination works because of the saltiness of the sauce and the sweetness of the chocolate,” Campbell said, adding that it should be “illegal.”
Both Wilkins, 69, and Jeffreys, 39, reluctantly agreed to try the food and were immediately repulsed by the results.

‘It’s awful! I hate it. Ketchup belongs on a sausage. “It’s a good day to be vegan,” a disgusted Sylvia told Campbell.
Meanwhile, Wilkins wasn’t a fan either, and upon tasting it said, “That’s awful.” I’m eating the corner of the KitKat to wash it.
News reporter Davina Smith also decided to try it and was left speechless by the taste, making a disgusted face on camera.
The Today show shared a funny clip of the food test on Instagram and fans quickly took to the comments section to share their thoughts.

“It’s like a bad pregnancy craving,” one person joked, and another added, “No thanks.”
However, the official KitKat ANZ page seemed to be a fan of the combination, cheekily writing: “What a combination” and adding a lip-licking emoji.
The strange food combination has gone viral on social media, with thousands of users filming themselves eating the unconventional dish.
