Tia Mowry is now clarifying her recent comments about not being as “close” with her twin sister Tamera Mowry after it sparked concerns about their relationship.

The 46-year-old actress said We weekly on Tuesday that addressed how his bond with Tamera has changed due to the physical distance between them.

Tia lives in Los Angeles, while Tamera moved to Napa, California, with her husband Adam Housley and their two children.

“You could hear it coming from me, and this is basically what I was implying: I feel like as we grow up, we all form our own families and our kids need to lean on them,” Tia explained.

“We’re starting to take on new roles and responsibilities in our lives. That’s what it’s all about.”

She continued: “In these transitions of life, sometimes you just want a hug and for someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that’s not the case. It’s called life.”

Tia highlighted how much she “loves” her sister and their “beautiful bond.”

“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a great closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what this is all about. It’s just how life plays out and it happens with a lot of families,” he explained.

As for how she and Tamera felt about the backlash to their comments, Tia admitted that it was “not surprising” and that they’re used to being “taken out of context.”

‘When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and that’s what it is.

“The only thing I can do is control my behavior and be the best person I can be, and that’s what we both are,” he said.

“We are amazing and inspiring examples, and we have been all our lives. Why change that now?”

Her initial comments were made in the latest trailer for her upcoming reality series My Next Act, which delves into her post-divorce struggle after leaving ex-husband Cory Hardrict.

After leaving her six-year-old daughter Cairo to spend time with her father, she broke down in tears.

“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” she shared in a confessional interview.

“At times like this I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that is not our current situation.”

In the clip, the star, who rose to fame in the late ’90s alongside Tamera in their sitcom Sister Sister, did not explain what had caused the rift between her and her identical sister.

Elsewhere on her show, which premieres Oct. 4 on We TV, Tia opened up about her first red carpet encounter with her ex Cory following their divorce.

While attending the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards event last March, the two came face to face in an awkward manner.

Images from the scene show the former spouses briefly hesitating, as they did not know whether to hug or hold hands.

Tia, who in addition to Cairo also shares 13-year-old son Cree with her ex, called the ordeal “exhausting.”

“It got blown out of proportion and we actually went viral,” she said of the brief meeting.

“People want to know what happened and why it happened, so much so that they’re trying to create narratives and stories in their own heads and then post them,” she said of fan speculation.

The mother of two said talk of her divorce made her “mentally ill.”

After filing for divorce in October 2022, the new show will see Mowry return to the dating world.

Meanwhile, Tia’s sister Tamera is happily married to husband Adam Housley, 53, a journalist and winemaker from Napa, California.

The two tied the knot in 2011 and share a son, Aden, 11, and a daughter, Ariah, nine.

To commemorate her children’s first day of school earlier this month, the proud mother posted a photo of them on Instagram.

In a message to her nearly 12 million followers, Tamera wrote: “First day of school vibes! Aden is going into 6th grade and Ariah is starting 4th grade. Where does the time go? I’m so full of joy but wow they are growing up so fast. Who else gets this excited this time of year?”
