Australian travelers can earn more Qantas Frequent Flyer points when they order an Uber with a simple trick.

Passengers can link their Uber and Qantas Frequent Flyer accounts in the Uber app and collect points by booking rides to and from the airport on their next getaway.

One point can be earned for every $2 spent when taking Uber rides to and from 21 eligible airports nationwide.

Uber users who book a Reserve ride up to 90 days before their trip earn one Qantas Point for every $1 spent to or from eligible airports.

Those who don’t have an Uber account can register and link their Qantas Frequent Flyer to earn 1,000 points.

In the Uber app, link the accounts by tapping Account, then Settings and scroll down to Rewards, where you’ll see the Qantas Frequent Flyer tab.

Enter the Qantas Frequent Flyer number and last name and then press “link”.

One million points will be given away daily to one lucky user who has their Uber and Qantas frequent flyer accounts linked from April 11 to 30.

Travelers have countless options with what they can do with a million frequent flyer points, from upgrades to business or first class, free access to select flights, lounges and even tickets on The Ghan or Indian-Pacific trains via from the country.

Another way to get more Qantas points and get closer to booking the trip of your dreams is to start walking.

The Qantas Wellbeing app offers users points for reaching their daily step count, as well as for things like exercising and getting a good night’s sleep.

Finance and investment guru Queenie Tan said that while the program doesn’t generate “tons” of points, it is a great way to earn for doing “easy” things and ensure points don’t expire.

Frequent flyers have already figured out the trick, saying the app is generous in awarding points up front, but you’ll need to sign up for Qantas health insurance to continue receiving big rewards.

Walking the dog, cycling to work, or running to the bus – all of these could add up to more points.

Users can track their activity by linking their:

  • iPhone
  • Android
  • apple watch
  • Adjustment bit
  • garmin
  • And other fitness tracking apps

Earn extra points by:

  • Complete daily and weekly challenges.
  • Competing against other users in a weekly Friends Step challenge.
  • Complete various tasks, such as health and car checks.
  • Refer up to 20 friends for 150 points
  • Sign up for the 28-day tour for 1,000 points. After the trial, you can still earn points but at a reduced price.
  • Take out a Qantas insurance policy or Qantas Premier Titanium credit card

Activities that earn points:

  • 30 minutes of racing – up to 12 points
  • One round of golf: up to 19 points
  • Two hours of cycling – up to 21 points
  • 42 minutes of swimming – up to 20 points

She downloaded the Qantas Wellbeing app and collected points by recording her sleep, step count, car checks and phone usage.

‘I slept at the right time every night without checking my phone and got 17 points. “I hit my daily step count and got 31 points,” Queenie explained.

He also checked his car’s tire and brake pressure, invited friends to join the app, and recorded his blood pressure.

At the end of the week, Queenie had an extra 624 Qantas points in her account.

“I think it’s a really great app if you want to earn points by doing simple everyday things and it’s also a good way to make sure your Qantas points don’t expire,” he said.

While the app can be used without signing up for Qantas health insurance, many said the rewards are greater for those who sign up for a plan after the 28-day trial period.

‘During the trial period, you get more points. Once completed, you will need to purchase insurance to obtain all the points. You’ll still get some points for very little effort and every point counts, plus it keeps your account active,” a brochure explains.

‘To maximize the Wellness app, you also need Qantas health insurance. You get 10 times more points,” another agreed.
