Pip Edwards isn’t the only one with a new man to brag about.

Just a few weeks ago, the PE Nation co-founder introduced her boyfriend Joshua Clapp during a sun-soaked outing in Camp Cove.

And on Monday morning, his former business partner Claire Greaves, with whom he launched the fashion sportswear brand in 2016, held a similar “hard launch” in Avalon Beach.

Claire, whose 11-year marriage to cinematographer Tim Tregoning ended quietly in mid-2022, was seen flirting with mixologist and bar czar Matt Whiley.

And it wouldn’t be a history of Sydney society without a bit of intrigue…

Matt has a surprising connection with Claire’s former friend and business partner Pip, who last year parted ways with PE Nation and returned to Ksubi as creative director.

While Claire has become estranged from her old friend Pip since their fight, they remain connected through their respective new partners, which may lead to some awkwardness in the future.

Last year there was a professional split between Pip and Claire which saw the end of one of the most lucrative and long-lasting partnerships in the Australian fashion industry.

Claire co-founded PE Nation with Pip, and the sports brand loved by eastern suburbs yummy mummies turned them into multi-millionaires. But Claire quit her day-to-day role at the label in March last year.

At the time, PE Nation said in a statement that he would “pursue other creative endeavors” and take his career in a new direction.

Claire and Pip were then hit by rumors of a fight, with Pip then deleting all traces of Claire from PE Nation’s social media in a seemingly telling move, deleting years of posts promoting the sportswear brand.

Pip took over as sole creative director after Claire’s departure and gave the brand an overhaul and relaunch, but later confirmed she too would be stepping down.

In August, Pip announced that she was also taking a “step back” and would no longer hold the creative director role she took on following Claire’s departure. The following month, in September, she returned to streetwear brand Ksubi, the brand where she first made a name for herself in the 2000s, as creative director.

While neither woman has revealed the reason they went their separate ways, Pip said in June last year that Claire “was the product” in their business partnership.

‘At PE Nation with my business partner, she was the producer. “She was an amazing designer and I was more on the marketing side,” he said on the Kyle and Jackie O Show at the time.

Pip went on to say that he had fond memories of working with his former partner and praised Claire for being an “amazing designer”.

Before their business partnership came to an end, Claire separated from her husband Tim in mid-2022, although it would not be announced until January of the following year.

“He’s very friendly, we still love each other, we co-parent and he’s still a great friend,” she said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.

“Things change and that’s exactly what happened to us, but we are getting through it with a lot of respect and support for each other.”
