Australian singer Emma Pask opened up about the tragic accident that left her husband Rodrigo Ocaña paralyzed.
Rodrigo spent almost eight months in the hospital and was paralyzed from the waist down after suffering a terrible motorcycle accident in December 2023.
He has received extensive treatment for injuries including a broken back, eight broken ribs, a shattered shoulder blade, a broken arm and a broken jaw and sternum.
One year after the accident, Emma has revealed that 2025 is looking much brighter for her and Rodrigo as she provides an update on her health.
emma, who famously sang in Nicole Kidman and Keith UrbanoAfter the 2006 wedding, Rodrigo said he is now home and out of the hospital and praised him for his resilience.
“We’ve grown a lot together in the last 12 months,” Emma told the Daily Telegraph.

“I’ve certainly witnessed a deeper depth in my husband, knowing that he can experience such a horrible accident the way he did and get through it all with such determination is incredible.”
“My admiration for him grows hour by hour, day by day,” he added.
Emma, who has been documenting her husband’s recovery on social media, also took to Instagram on Saturday to pay tribute to everyone who supported Rodrigo.
“To help us get through last year, we went back to the beginning,” he gushed.
‘A young woman and her boyfriend, who were the first to arrive at the scene of Rod’s accident. They stayed with him and comforted him as much as they could while they waited for the ambulance.
“Our dear friends and family joined us and offered, and continue to offer, much care and support,” he added.
The singer, who rose to fame on The Voice in 2013, also praised staff at Royal North Shore Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital.
Emma also thanked Spinal Cord Injury Australia for providing us with “support and lots of information to help us get through everything that comes after experiencing a spinal cord injury.”

Emma also recently celebrated her wedding anniversary with Rodrigo and shared a sweet message for him on social media just before Christmas.
“The accident altered everything, but it also brought out a strength in you that has amazed me every day,” he wrote.
“For my incredible husband, Rod, this anniversary is not just about marking the passing of time, but celebrating the remarkable progress he has made in his recovery and the unwavering determination he has shown in every challenge he has faced.”
Emma added that Rodrigo has been a constant inspiration in her approach to recovery.
“The road has been difficult, full of obstacles both physical and emotional, but you have faced each day with courage, a new patience and the kind of grace that inspires not only me, but everyone around you,” he continued.
‘This year I have witnessed the power of love, hope and tireless spirit. It is a reminder that no matter how hard life is, there is always room for healing, growth, and a better tomorrow.
‘I love you infinitely and I am very proud of how far you have come.
“Today I celebrate not only the milestone, but the journey itself and the courage to face each day.”

Aside from her appearance on The Voice, Emma has built a career as one of Australia’s best-loved jazz singers.
She is perhaps best known for her collaborations with James Morrison, as well as singing the wedding waltz at the 2006 wedding of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.
She has also been nominated twice for Best ARIA Jazz Album and won a 2004 MO Award for Jazz Vocal Performer of the Year.
Emma’s career has seen her release nine albums from 1999’s Emma to her 2021 effort On the Sunny Side of the Street.
