American R&B star Jason Derulo was announced as the new coach on The Voice Australia on Sunday…and some fans aren’t happy about it.
Irritated viewers took to The Voice’s Instagram page to share their concerns about Jason, 33, replacing local country music star Keith Urban, 55, on the judging panel.
“I’d like to see it with people more relevant to Australia,” commented one irate viewer.
“That’s the end of The Voice for me,” another wrote, while a third said Jason wouldn’t be a good judge because “his voice is always auto tuned.”
However, other viewers praised Channel Seven for bringing a global superstar to the show.

The pop sensation says she’s looking for the next global superstar.
Derulo came to Channel Seven success as a replacement for fan favorite Keith Urban, who left the show as manager at the end of last season.

“I will bring a global perspective,” Derulo said, explaining his game plan in an interview with The Sunday Telegraph.
“These are obviously musicians from Australia, but the way the music industry has changed, there are no rules anymore.”
“I think more than ever, the lines have blurred, so there is an opportunity for a global star to come out of this,” he said.
Former coach Keith said he quit The Voice because he wanted to spend time with his family and tour Australia.
He said the daily telegraph in October he was trying to balance his schedule with his wife Nicole Kidman so they could take their children to visit their grandparents and relatives over the Christmas holidays.
