The world’s tallest residential building, to be named after national hero Ayrton Senna, is set to be built after receiving government approval.
The Senna Tower, planned for construction in the southern Brazilian city of Balneário Camboriú, could reach 500 meters in height if built.
This skyscraper will be 18 metres taller than the current tallest building in the world, the Central Park Tower in New York.
The concept, estimated to cost £415 million, was devised by architecture studio FG Empreendimentos and designed by Senna’s niece, visual artist Lalalli.
She said: ‘Every great story begins with a journey. A journey of discovery, growth and transformation.

Another image shows the illuminated building. It will house 204 apartments, 18 “suspended mansions”, four duplex penthouses and two mega triplex penthouses.

The apartments, to be built in Balneário Camboriú in southern Brazil, would have views of the Atlantic Ocean.

One of the greatest drivers ever to compete in Formula One, Senna wowed fans with his incredible speed on track, which led to him winning three world championships during his time at McLaren before moving to Williams in 1994.
Tragically, in his first season with his new team, he died after a high-speed crash at that year’s San Marino Grand Prix.
The structure, which has been approved by the Brazilian government and environmental agencies, will house 204 apartments, 18 “suspended mansions,” four duplex penthouses and two mega triplex penthouses.
According to a survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), 57.22% of the inhabitants of Balneário Camboriú live in apartments, which is the second highest rate of all cities in the country.
This statistic has also led locals to colloquially refer to the city as the “Brazilian Dubai.”

The municipality is the second smallest city in terms of land area in the state, although it is the 12th in absolute population.
