A six-year-old boy drowned in feces after wearing his older sister’s slippers and slipping on the toilet seat over a latrine at his home in Moldova, police say.

Beniamin Osipciuc disappeared last Tuesday in the small town of Hincesti, in the central part of the country.

According to local reports, the boy fell at home with his 14-year-old sister and 9-year-old brother in the afternoon.

The older children were busy with their homework and only noticed his disappearance later.

Then they told their parents, who had been at work when he fell.

Because they couldn’t find the boy themselves, the family reported him missing.

Police and volunteers – about 500 in total – searched for the boy for the next two days.

After not finding him, the police officers decided to take a closer look at the family’s house and courtyard.

Senior officer Igor Zglavuta told local media, “We broke the outside toilet and found the boy’s body in the well latrine.”

Forensic investigation revealed no signs of violence on the child’s body, police said.

Prosecutor Remus Moroz said, “There is no doubt that it was an accident.

The boy put on his older sister’s slippers and climbed onto the toilet seat.

“We think he slipped off the chair, fell into the hole, and drowned.”

Police spokeswoman Kristina Vikol added, “The victim suffocated in the stool after falling into the outdoor toilet in the courtyard of his family’s house.”

Investigators say Beniamin fell into the toilet on the day of his disappearance.

According to police reports, the boy’s older siblings were in the house and could not hear his screams because the toilet walls are made of cement.

Beniamin’s family members cannot believe what happened.

His father Fyodor Osipciuc said, “We can’t imagine how he could fall through the drop. He had only used the toilet since he was three … “

The child, affectionately called Bibi by his family, was buried yesterday, local media said.
