Angry Channel Ten viewers have expressed their frustration over a shocking format change to the long-running panel show.

The angry spectators took the Media Spy Forums to express displeasure with the show airing a special episode about the US elections on Wednesday night, making it more difficult to film.

“Tonight on The Project they mentioned that the show starts earlier, at 6pm (Wednesday) and is 90 minutes,” wrote one upset viewer.

‘The program guide shows it how America decides: the project. A bit stupidly they changed the name, because now it doesn’t appear in the series link in the guide in my Fetch box.

‘I wouldn’t record as usual. I had to select it as a new recording to be recorded tomorrow.”

The 90-minute special edition of The Project is half an hour longer than usual and will see the hosts provide an in-depth, tongue-in-cheek analysis of the US election that coincides with the broadcast.

Meanwhile, other viewers also shared their opinions on the unique format change.

“It’s a scandal,” one fan criticized and another person asked if the longer format would affect other shows as well, with someone confirming that Deal or no Deal would not air that night.

During Tuesday night’s episode, co-host Waleed Aly surprised his fellow panelists by predicting that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris will defeat Republican Donald Trump to become the next president of the United States.

The Gold Logie-winning host, who is in Washington DC, the US capital, to cover the presidential race, made the surprise claim on the show.

He was put on the spot by fellow panelist Kate Langbroek, who asked him who would get the keys to the White House.

‘There’s no point in having you unless you give us a name. Who is going to win? Langbroek asked.

Furious viewers called the format change

Furious viewers called the format change “an outrage” and went online to complain about the inconvenience.

Without hesitation, Aly replied, ‘Kamala Harris. There is a name.

Langbroek appeared surprised when his fellow co-presenters Hamish Macdonald, Sarah Harris and comedian Sam Taunton gasped.

Aly went on to explain his prediction, even though polls say it’s still too close: “My theory is that Trump has a lower chance of winning.” Kamala has a little more room for error in terms of who she goes to and who they might go to.’
