The lives of a musical superstar and a Danish queen may seem worlds apart, but Mary of Denmark and Taylor Swift share an interesting similarity.

During her state visit to Norway earlier this month, the Australian-born European royal had her hair styled with accessories from a designer beloved of Taylor Swift.

New York designer Ellen Hunter is best known for her ornate handmade jewelry, and her hair accessories have become celebrity favorites over the years.

Queen Mary was photographed with the Daphne comb ($113 AUD) in the dome room of Fredensborg Castle, the spring and autumn residence of the Danish royal family.

The queen wore the hair accessory to the Armed Forces Badge of Honor dinner in September 2023, three years after Taylor Swift debuted the famous comb in her Cardigan music video. back in 2020.

Taylor paired the delicate gold comb with a velvet Ralph Lauren dress, while Queen Mary styled the accessory with a sleek black suit and her medals.

Most recently, Queen Mary wore Ellen Hunter’s Jane Comb ($248) during the Danish state visit to Norway in May 2024.

The Jane comb uses filigree, a method in which the maker twists gold wire and solders it, making its design more complex.

It has three vintage-inspired designs twisted together on a 24-karat gold-plated comb, and there are only three units in stock at the time of writing.
