Michael Brudenell-Bruce, the 8th Marquess of Ailesbury, died after falling in a “freak accident” while letting his cat out.

The Marquis, a distant relative of Prince Harry’s former model Florence Brudenell-Bruce, opened his bedroom window to let his pet out, but sadly died in London.

The 98-year-old man died instantly, he reported. Sunafter hitting his head on the concrete patio.

He was tragically discovered by his long-term partner, 88-year-old Teresa Marshall de Paoli, who had been cooking dinner on Sunday. The Sun reported that she believed she had been there for at least an hour.

His 36-year-old partner said she called the police and emergency services, and then they allowed him to say goodbye and spray him with his favorite aftershave.

In 2011, Prince Harry dated Florence Brudenell-Bruce, a model daughter of Andrew Brudenell-Bruce and descendant of the 3rd Marquess of Ailesbury.

They dated for two months and reportedly remained friends. Brudenell-Bruce married billionaire Henry St George in 2013, and Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018.

Brudenell-Bruce’s widow told The Sun that police “thought he might have been killed” before realizing he had fallen in the house they had lived in for 14 years since leaving their home in Savernake Forest.

“It was an absolutely freak accident,” he said, “there was no fight, I didn’t hit him.”

“I think the cat named Honeybun got his head stuck and pushed it [the window] “He got up and lost his balance and fell into the yard,” he told the newspaper.

She said he “fell 5 feet, breaking the roses on the wall” as he fell.

The 88-year-old told The Sun that her husband was “cold and very pale” and that she had gone to get a cushion to place under his head.

“I said, ‘Oh, honey, what happened?’ But he was dead,” she told the newspaper.

He contacted his daughter Lady Kathryn Brudenell-Bruce to tell her what had happened.

They comforted each other and spent “the whole night in an armchair” together.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed they attended the address shortly after 8pm on Sunday and the London Ambulance Service also attended.

“The death is unexpected but is not being treated as suspicious,” a spokesman said.
