A list that apparently includes the most popular names currently working in the media has caused bewilderment among many who have glanced at it.
The Hollywood Reporter says it’s the first time ‘A-List of creators’ includes ‘amazingly talented TikTokers’ and ‘Instagram stars we can’t take our eyes off’, but those who’ve seen the selection of 50 social media influencers say they’ve ‘never heard of most of them.’
Described by the magazine as “New Fame,” the list includes writers, comedians, makeup artists, producers, interviewers and fashionistas with one thing in common: They are all also described as “influencers,” plying their trade on TikTok. , Instagram and other social media landscapes, often with millions of followers hanging on your every word.
German-born model turned home cook Nara Smith, who has been dubbed a ‘Tradwife’ influencer thanks to her complicated ‘from-scratch’ recipes, is on the list.
Despite the hype and glamorous West Hollywood party last night to officially announce the list, there was a more muted response elsewhere.
The reaction on Twitter was almost universally questioning, with most people saying they didn’t recognize anyone, or very few people, on the A-List of Creators.
One wrote: ‘I literally recognize one in 21 people…’
Another added: ‘I must be very old. Who are these people?
One exasperated X user wrote: ‘Wow, you’re kidding! WHO are these people?
Others were a little more enlightened. One wrote: “I know the guys from The Good Mythical Morning, and Kai Cenat has never heard of anyone else here.”
