A woman drinks two cups of her own urine every day after the strange habit "cures" the severe swelling in her eye caused by a mosquito bite.
Faith Canter, 39, of Aberdeen, was bitten in the eye shortly after moving to Castelo Branco, Portugal, last June. Awakened by the sharp pain of the bite, Mrs. Canter immediately had a large lump covering her right eye.
The health and wellness coach, who has always suffered extreme reactions to mosquito bites, tried everything from steroid creams to antihistamine tablets to relieve his swelling, but nothing worked.
After initially thinking that the urine therapy was "crazy", a desperate Canter finally gave in and drank half a cup of her own liquid waste.
In four hours, the swelling in his eye had completely disappeared, and Mrs. Canter now swore with two glasses of urine every day to avoid the bites and increase her general health.
Scientists have said previously that there is no evidence that drinking urine has any benefit, adding that those who do "make fun of themselves."
Faith Canter drinks two cups of her own urine every day after the strange habit "cures" the severe swelling in her eye caused by a mosquito bite. In the photo after the ordeal, Ms. Cancer says that drinking your own waste liquid allows the body to recognize poisons, threats, intruders, etc.
Mrs. Canter received a bite in the right eye shortly after moving from Aberdeen to Castelo Branco, Portugal, in June 2018. Awakened by the sharp pain of the bite, Canter immediately suffered a huge lump covering her right eye. She had suffered extreme bite reactions in the past
Desperate, Mrs. Canter drank half a cup of urine after a friend recommended the "crazy" act. She states that her swelling decreased by four hours instead of the usual seven to ten days. Ms. Canter was so impressed that now makes drinking her urine part of her daily routine
Speaking of the ordeal, Ms. Canter said: "They bit me in the night and I woke up and I could not open my eye and when I felt it, it was swollen and I could feel the pressure of the swelling.
Then, I picked up the phone to use the camera and see what happened. I could distinguish or feel a bite between the swelling and I knew immediately that it was a mosquito bite.
"He felt so uncomfortable, painful, very tight, itchy, sore and disorienting, I've had many reactions like this over the years and I had also heard mosquitoes in the night."
Mrs. Canter appears four hours after she drank her urine, with the swelling almost gone
Ms. Canter, a health and wellness coach, says that her healthy lifestyle means that her urine has very little flavor, which makes it more appetizing. She aims to live a "toxic-free" lifestyle after trying "toxic" medical treatments such as steroid creams to relieve her bites.
A week before being bitten in the eye, Ms. Canter was also bitten on the knee and applied urine directly to the area.
She said: "He left in three days instead of the seven to 10 days he usually took. After the swelling went down, I found three bites, so it is not surprising that I was so swollen and sore.
Ms. Canter knew that, based on her previous bites, it could take almost two weeks for the swelling in her eye to go down. Desperate, she decided to give urine therapy a try.
She said: "To begin with, I felt a little disgusting, but I already felt so bad that this happened very fast.
"I did not know anything wrong (I'm very healthy, which apparently helps with the taste), and it ended in a few seconds.
"I did not notice anything for about four hours, we had to go out that day, so I put on some sunglasses and went to the city.
"While we were driving back, I suddenly realized that I could see through the eye again, so I took off my glasses, looked in the mirror in the car and realized that the swelling had almost completely disappeared.
"I was surprised and surprised and, of course, very, very happy." The next morning I could not even say that I had been bitten in. There is no itching, swelling or discomfort at all.
Also taken four hours after she drank her urine, Ms. Canter's swelling continued to go down
Now, drinking urine every day, Ms. Canter insists that she is bitten less and her bites are less severe
Now, drinking two cups of urine a day, Ms. Canter insists that this has reduced both the number and severity of her bites.
She said: & # 39;[Urine therapy] It apparently creates an incredible feedback mechanism in the body, which allows the body to recognize poisons, threats, intruders, etc. much faster and address them as such.
"It's seemingly amazing for all kinds of bites, stings, intolerances and allergies for this reason." Throughout the years of suffering like this, I've tried all the toxic and medical treatments to deter them and treat the bites once they've bitten me. .
– None of this worked. Then I became toxic free a few years ago and tried all the non-toxic treatments from everywhere I traveled around the world, from garlic and B vitamins to shamanic oils and sprays of essential oils.
"I have continued to drink some of my urine every morning since then and now they are biting me much less than ever and when they bite me now they never swell or itch, now they are small punctures".
Urine therapy was popularized by British naturopath John W. Armstrong in the early 20th century. He was inspired by his family's practice of using urine to treat minor stings and pains.
Some followers of urine therapy even believe that it dates back to biblical times.
Despite Ms. Canter's enthusiasm for "treatment", no independent research has been conducted on the practice; Kidney specialists even warn that consuming too much can lead to a buildup of toxic waste similar to kidney failure.
Professor Henry Woo, a urological surgeon at the University of Sydney, said earlier: "There is absolutely no scientific evidence to suggest that urine therapy has any therapeutic value.
"Those who drink their own urine do nothing but make fun of themselves."
