The Florida Republican Matt Gaetz goes into quarantine AFTER flying on Air Force One with Donald Trump

Congressman Matt Gaetz, who spent the weekend in Florida with President Donald Trump and several members of the first family, announced that he was in contact with a person at C-PAC who had the corona virus and voluntarily quarantines himself.

“Congressman Gaetz was informed today that he came into contact with a CPAC participant 11 days ago who tested positive for COVID-19,” his office said in a statement.

Gaetz traveled with Air Force One along with President Trump on Monday when the President returned from Florida. He was seen stepping out of the back of the plane, where he was met by an Air Force officer and escorted to a waiting car. He was seen on the plane in Orlando, where he took the front flight of Air Force One after the president.

“Although the congressman is not experiencing any symptoms, he received tests today and expects rapid results. According to the doctor’s usual precautionary recommendations, he will remain in quarantine until these 14 days expire. ”

Gaetz heard after Air Force One had left Orlando that he had been in contact with an infected person on CPAC, two sources said The New York Times. He then essentially put himself in quarantine, sitting alone in a part of the plane, the newspaper reported.

The Florida republican wore a gas mask on the floor of the house last week to mock the outrage surrounding the epidemic. The stunt attracted enormous attention, which his office acknowledged in Monday’s statement.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF CORONAVIRUS?

Like other coronaviruses, including those that cause the cold and that caused SARS, COVID-19 is a respiratory disease.

  • The most common symptoms are:
  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Breathing problems
  • Fatigue

Although having a runny nose does not exclude the corona virus, it does not seem to be a primary symptom so far.

Most people only get slightly ill, but the infection can become serious and even fatal, especially for those who are older or have underlying health problems.

In these cases, patients develop pneumonia, which can lead to:

  • Possibly with yellow, green or bloody mucus
  • Fever, sweating and chills
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fast or superficial breathing
  • Pain when breathing, especially when breathing deeply or coughing
  • Low appetite, energy and fatigue
  • Nausea and vomiting (is more common in children)
  • Confusion (more common among the elderly)
  • Some patients have also reported diarrhea and kidney failure has occasionally been a complication.

Avoid people with these symptoms. If you develop them, call your health care provider before you go to the hospital or the doctor so that she and you can prepare to minimize potential exposure if they suspect you have a corona virus.

“Congressman Gaetz expected COVID-19 to affect Congress, given the increased frequency of travel and human contact, and expressed his concern about the House Floor last week,” Gaetz’s office said.

His office in Washington, DC on Capitol Hill will also be closed, but his Florida office will remain open.

Gaetz was seen on Saturday night at Mar-a-Lago, where there was a dinner for Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and a birthday party for Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Also seen on Mar-a-Lago that night were President Trump, Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.; Eric Trump and his wife Lara Trump; Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

Tiffany Trump was also seen in photos posted on social media. Rudy Giuliani, the personal lawyer of the president, was also seen; Vice President Mike Pence; Republican Senator Lindsey Graham; and Fox News hosts Tucker Carlson.

Gaetz was spotted on Wednesday with the mask on for a vote on a bill to fight the virus.

Only two days later, health officials announced the death of a man in Santa Rosa County, which falls under the northwestern district of Gaetz in Florida. A second senior citizen in Lee County has also died.

“I am very sad to hear about the first fatal outcome in our district by Coronavirus, a Northwestern floridian living in Santa Rosa County. Our prayers are with his family and loved ones in this difficult time, “Gaetz said in a statement.

“View the additional coronavirus credits and prepare to vote,” Gaetz tweeted for a $ 8.3 billion bill to stop the virus from spreading.

Gaetz, who explained his bizarre accessory, compared the living room with a ‘petri dish’ for incubating germs.

“We all fly to these dirty airports, we touch everyone we meet and make selfie, and then we come together,” said the Florida congressman.

Rep. Bobby L. Rush said Gaetz “shot the light of an epidemic that killed 14 Americans”

Among those who asked him to take off the mask were Ruben Gallego, an Arizona combat and veteran veteran.

The sergeant-at-arms asked Gaetz to remove his gas mask in the room and quoted rules against headgear.

Gaetz initially protested when he walked down the floor of the house. “There are provisions in the house rules that allow medically necessary headgear,” Gaetz said.

Gaetz later recognized in a statement The hill that “House Rules do not explicitly allow medical headgear, even at this time of heightened concern,” adds, “This is a rule that needs to be revised.”

Gaetz is the newest Republican legislator that voluntarily quarantines itself after a CPAC participant appears to have tested positive for the disease.

Republican Rep. Doug Collins also quarantined on Monday.

Collins traveled with Trump last Friday when the president went to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and the two were photographed with shaking hands.

He joins Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar, as himself quarantining after the possible exposure. Cruz announced his decision on Sunday evening.

Thousands of conservatives attended CPAC, which was addressed by President Trump, Mike Pence, and a series of other loyalists.

Among the guests was the mysterious 55-year-old man who tested positive according to the Maryland health authorities.

But Matt Schlapp, the chairman of CPAC, said he feels “healthy as a horse” after “incidental contact” with the man who is now recovering in New Jersey following the Washington DC event from February 27 to March 1.

Cruz has admitted that he also shook hands with the infected man and placed himself in quarantine for 14 days.

“I was told last night at CPAC 10 days ago that I had brief contact with a person who is currently symptomatic and has tested positive for COVID-19,” Cruz said in a statement on Sunday. “That interaction consisted of a short conversation and a handshake.”

On Sunday, Arizona Republican Paul Gosar joined Cruz by placing himself in quarantine.

“I announce that, along with three of my senior staff, I am officially under self-quarantine after prolonged contact at CPAC with a person who has since been admitted to hospital with the Wuhan virus.”

It comes when the American coronavirus death toll climbed to 22 while another patient died in Washington state. Grant County Health District confirmed death without giving further details.

Schlapp saw interaction last week with people like Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump and Jared Kushner during the event where he also came in contact with the infected person.

“I had occasional contact with him, very briefly … I feel healthy like a horse,” Schlapp told Fox Sunday.

Schlapp said he had contacted anyone who might have had contact with the infected person, but said that person “had no contact with the president or vice-president.”

“I can tell you, when the president was on the spot at CPAC, he lives according to what he tells us, because I scrubbed his hand more than once and cleaned his hands while he was on the property, and I did the same,” said Schlapp.

He added in a tweet on Sunday evening: “We asked the patient the names of everyone with whom he spent time. Those who interacted with the participant were informed. The good news is that nobody has symptoms. ”

War Room podcast host Raheem Kassam said he was with the infected man and had been ‘flu sick’ last week.

He claimed that the infected man was present for most Thursday activities and noted that Gosar and Cruz were in the green room that day from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Kassam said that Rep Louie Gohmert, KellyAnne Conway and Rep Matt Gaetz may be in danger.

Kassam said the infected person was also present on Friday.

‘Everyone at the CPAC Shabbat dinner must be checked. The participant was there, ‘tweeted Kassam on Sunday.

He claimed that there could be a second infected person. Kassam said he and others were “apoplectic about how they were not better informed about what happened.”

From Sunday evening, 550 people in the US had tested positive for COVID-19 and 22 people died. Worldwide 110,037 people have been tested positive for the corona virus and 3,825 people have died.

President Trump said earlier that he is not worried about any risk.

However, Cruz said in his statement that he is cutting himself off from further public interaction, despite doctors believing that he is not a risk. He also said that he has informed other politicians who have attended CPAC.

“I have consulted with the medical authorities of the Houston Health Department, the Harris County Public Health Department, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as my personal doctor,” he tweeted. have also spoken with Vice President Pence, Leader McConnell and Mark Meadows. ”
