The Crown faces further backlash when the show recreates the Ritz Hotel in Paris, where Diana spent her last night, despite fury over the ‘hurtful and unnecessary’ portrayal of her fatal car accident.
It already drew criticism for staging Diana’s final moments and now The Crown risks further backlash by recreating her final steps before the fatal car crash.
New set images show a replica of the Ritz Hotel in Paris, where the princess spent her last night.
It has been recreated at Elstree Studios, with images also showing two French police cars, a hearse and a black Mercedes similar to the one the late royal died parked outside.
The structure stands next to replicas of Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street.
Diana and Dodi Fayed were traveling in a black Mercedes from the Ritz Hotel when they died in the fatal accident in the early hours of August 31, 1997.

Netflix has previously insisted that the “exact timing” will not appear in the sixth season.
But in October, filming took place near the Alma tunnel, the scene of the accident.
Two months later, Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Diana, was surrounded by fake paparazzi as she reenacted the royals’ final hours outside the Ritz Hotel in the French capital. Ms. Debicki was dressed in an identical gray suit and wore black sunglasses.
Royal biographer Angela Levin previously told the Daily Mail that filming scenes near where Diana died was “hurtful” and “unnecessary”.
And Diana’s astrologer and friend, Debbie Frank, said it was “insensitive” and would be “obviously terrible” for the princess’s sons, William and Harry.
It was also reported that Ms Debicki had been forced to lie in an open coffin like a deceased Princess Diana. Show bosses were also condemned for a re-enactment of her last moments on an operating table surrounded by blood-soaked doctors fighting to save her life.
Scenes re-enacting his funeral were secretly filmed last year at a disused RAF base.

The royal drama has continued to stoke controversy over inaccuracies. A controversial scene in the recently released series five saw Prince Charles, played by Dominic West, lobbying then-Prime Minister John Major, played by Jonny Lee Miller, in an attempt to force his mother’s abdication.
The streaming giant was recently forced by the dispute to add a disclaimer to the summer shows saying it was a “dummy dramatization.”
Series six will be released later this year.
