The Chase star gives an insight into behind-the-scenes drama as ‘greedy’ contestants steal the spotlight on ITV quiz show

A star of The Chase has given a behind-the-scenes insight into the drama between the contestants.

Jenny Ryan, 41, known as The Vixen on the hit ITV game show, revealed some “greedy” contestants fight for the spotlight.

Speaking to The Mirror, he explained that while people are often judged by their teammates for accepting the lowest or negative offer, there is another move that causes the most drama.

She said: ‘Occasionally there is a bit of side-eye if they have gone against the team’s advice. In fact, it is more common if they have gone for the highest offer, if they have been advised to go for the lowest offer.’

“It’s like saying, ‘I can’t believe they took that risk,’ it’s a huge risk.” It is much more important that all the players return to the final, there is a better chance of winning.”

Jenny added: “Anyone who can put aside their pride and play for the team and take the low offer as a consensus, I’m all for it.” If it’s someone who’s a little cheeky or greedy, I understand that furore.’

Last month, The Chase viewers were left completely shocked after one contestant made history by receiving a jaw-dropping offer.

Four new hopefuls took on Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis, 43, during the game show episode.

First player Kim banked £5,000 in her cash-building round, however viewers were stunned when Darragh presented her with a stunning six-figure cash offer.

If Kim had raised high, he could have brought in £100,000 for his team.

Host of the popular ITV quiz show Bradley Walsh and viewers at home were left baffled by the extraordinary sum, which Darragh called the “highest ever offer” for a player.

He then went on to say that any further offers would be lower.

Although Kim seemed tempted, she ultimately played it safe, deciding against it and keeping her initial £5,000.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the surprising turn of events, not believing the huge offer or why Kim turned it down.

One shouted: ‘What are you doing! Take the £100,000!’

Another said: ‘First offer 100k’, followed by mind-blowing emojis.

Darragh defeated player two, Owen, and player three, Georgina.

The final player, Perry, added an extra twist to the spectacle by opting for the highest bid of £88,000.

Fans were stunned when Perry successfully advanced to the finals, defying all expectations.

Despite the team’s unexpected success, it was short-lived as in the final chase, Perry and Georgina answered 14 questions between them, but Darragh managed to defeat them with only seconds to spare.

It’s not the first time the ITV game show, which has aired since 2009, has made history after “the one question shootout” took place earlier this year.

The show features a total of six Chasers: Mark Labbett, Anne Hegerty, Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha, Darragh Ennis and Shaun Wallace.

The show has spawned The Chase: Celebrity Special, The Family Chase and Beat The Chasers, as well as international remakes.
