Shocking footage captured the moment a car was hit causing it to roll on its side outside a McDonald’s.
The terrifying accident happened outside the fast food restaurant on Glen Osmond Road in Frewville, southeast of Adelaide, last Thursday.
Dashboard camera footage showed the moment a driver in a white Mazda 2 stopped on a busy street as they waited to turn into the driveway on the other side of the street.
The driver crossed during a lull in oncoming traffic when a Toyota Camry sedan suddenly collided with the side of the turning vehicle.
Shocking dash cam footage captured the moment a speeding Toyota Camry collided with a Mazda sedan near a McDonald’s in Adelaide on Wednesday.
The driver of the Mazda was entering the McDonald’s store (pictured) seconds before the accident.
The collision forced the Mazda to mount the curb and overturn in front of the McDonald’s.
The hood of the Camry was instantly destroyed upon impact, and the hood detached from the front of the vehicle.
Moments before the accident, the Camry’s tires could be heard screeching along the road as the driver desperately slammed on the brakes.
Footage of the terrifying incident was uploaded to Facebook.
Hundreds of social media users blamed the driver of the Camry, saying it appeared the vehicle had been speeding.
“No way was that Camry going over the speed limit,” said one social media user.
“(That) Camry is way back and covered that distance in about 3 (sic) seconds,” wrote another.
“I was definitely speeding, even after hitting the brakes.”
The collision forced the Mazda to roll onto the side of the sidewalk near the fast food restaurant (pictured).
Others said the driver of the Mazda should take responsibility for the collision because he decided to turn as the Camry approached.
‘I doubt it was speeding, but even if it was. “I don’t think Mazda did the right thing either,” said one social media user.
Some intervened, urging people to drive according to traffic conditions.
“Faster objects approach faster… wait, look, drive,” they said.
A South Australian police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that the driver of the Mazda suffered minor injuries.
Officers are investigating the incident.
