An Australian cleaning and organization guru has shared her number one hack of 2024 using a $4.50 Kmart product and a common closet staple.
Anita Birges, who directs Mise en Place Professional Organization, revealed the simple idea that anyone can use in their home to store their belongings.
In one video, she used a Kmart paper towel holder and an adhesive hook to create a wall hanger.
With the bracket attached to the hook horizontally, it can be used to hang various hats, headbands, hair clips, scrunchies, bags and spare hangers.
‘Listen because you’re going to love this DIY organization hack! There are so many uses for this one, check it out,’ Anita stated in the video.
First gently fold the paper towel holder at a slight angle to ensure the items do not slip. He then placed different items on the hanger.
The short video quickly surpassed 69,000 views, with many thanking Anita for sharing the “fantastic” idea.

“Perfect idea, thank you very much,” one wrote.
“That’s why you don’t hear me ask where we keep spare hangers anymore,” said another.
A third added: ‘I have one of these hanging in the bathroom the men use at my house to store spare toilet rolls. I don’t like objects on the floor.
This handy tip is also a great alternative to installing permanent shelves or wall hooks.
Last year, Anita also shared her easy trick for preventing mold and deterring pests in your closet.
Anita recommended using giant chalk along with clove, lavender, and peppermint essential oils to solve all your problems.
The expert simply adds a few drops of clove oil to a giant stick of chalk and keeps it in her drawer to absorb moisture and kill mold spores.
You can find the chalk at several Australian retailers, including Kmart, where you can buy a pack of 20 for just $3.25.
Anita recommends placing DIY deterrents on the side of drawers and on the top shelf of the closet without a container.
The professional also revealed that it is best to use white chalk so that the pigment does not stain clothing.
You will need a few drops of lavender oil on another piece of chalk to get rid of moths and silverfish.
Lastly, peppermint oil works wonders by leaving drawers smelling fresh and deterring spiders, mice, and other creepy crawlies.
Anita recommends putting two to three drops of essential oil for each piece of giant chalk.
Purchase all your oils at your local pharmacy.
