- Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya are reportedly ‘taking a break’ from each other
- The tennis power couple went public with their relationship in May of this year.
- However, now they are ‘in crisis’ and do not follow each other on Instagram
The powerhouse tennis union of Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya is reportedly in ruins, two months after their crowning moment.
Italian star Sinner won the US Open by beating Taylor Fritz in September and shared a kiss in front of the New York crowd with Kalinskaya, the women’s world number 14.
However, now they are reportedly taking a break amid a “crisis” so they can “better understand their relationship and future.”
Neither of them follow the other on Instagram, an unusual change that would suggest something is wrong, although one cannot read too much into it.
Kalinskaya also did not support her boyfriend in Turin, where Sinner won his first ATP Finals title on Sunday over Frick, and instead reportedly chose to vacation in Miami, which is also not necessarily an indicator in itself same.
Some feel that a series of rather cold quotes from Sinner suggest that he is not too invested in the relationship. That said, he is usually a reserved person and not too revealing.
Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya’s relationship is in “crisis”, say Russian and Italian media, just two months after their kiss at the US Open
The tennis power couple went public with their relationship in May during the French Open.
World No. 14 tennis star Kalinskaya no longer follows Sinner on Instagram, and vice versa
‘Having a girlfriend is something that makes you feel good or makes you feel bad. “I want it to be something that seems very natural, that comes into my life normally,” he said, quoted by The messengerquoting sources from the Russian homeland of Kalinskaya.
“I can’t afford to change either as a player or as a person. This hasn’t happened and that’s why it works.”
That cryptic announcement does little to calm rumors of a collapse floating in Russian circles.
And after winning her ATP Finals title in Turin, Sinner didn’t mention Kalinskaya on her thank-you list.
‘The crowd was incredible. Normally the cheering starts from the first match, here it started a week before the tournament. “I thank my family and my staff for this incredible journey,” he said.
It has been an extraordinary year on the court for Sinner, who began 2024 by winning the Australian Open and then won in the United States to split the Grand Slams with Carlos Alcaraz.
However, he was only cleared of irregularities for failing anti-doping tests 19 days before the US Open triumph.
Sinner was allowed to play in the tournament after a court ruled that he had “no fault or negligence” for the two failed tests, accepting that the contamination occurred during a massage by his physiotherapist.
It has been a triumphant year on the court for Sinner, who won the Australian and US Opens.
However, he and Kalinskaya are said to be taking a break to “better understand their relationship and their future.”
The world number one is the first Italian to reach the top of the men’s ranking and an ambassador of Gucci, achievements and luxuries that have made him a famous name.
Meanwhile, Kalinskaya has also had a solid year on court, reaching a career-best quarterfinal at the Australian Open and reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon.
The Russian star used to be in a relationship with tennis firebrand Nick Kyrgios, but partnered with partner Sinner in May this year.
Sinner and Kalinskaya are believed to have started dating in April 2024 after meeting together during practice sessions.
They have been regularly seen supporting each other at matches.
Speaking during the French Open in May, when Sinner confirmed he was alongside Kalinskaya, the Italian said: “I’m with Anna, yes, but we keep everything very confidential.”
‘You already know my confidentiality… I won’t say more.’
