Police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly possessing knives and tactical equipment in a possible terrorist threat outside a politician’s office.
The arrest took place on Wednesday afternoon after police received a report of concern for the man’s well-being.
Sky News reports that the teenager had allegedly written a manifesto threatening to commit mass murder.

In a statement, New South Wales Police said officers from the Newcastle district attended a location on Workshop Way where they arrested the man.
“Upon further search, police located several items which have now been seized,” police said.
‘The teenager was taken to Newcastle Police Station.
‘Upon further investigation, officers learned of the existence of a document that had been distributed to several public figures and media outlets.
‘The man is currently assisting police and there is no ongoing threat to the community in relation to this investigation.
“Investigations are continuing by Newcastle Police District with the assistance of specialist investigators.”
Counter-terrorism police are understood to be investigating.
