Teddi Mellencamp urges fans to ‘get those skin checks’ amid cancer battle after doctors find another suspicious spot… 3 months after surgery

Teddi Mellencamp’s doctors have found another ‘abnormal spot’ on her body three months after she underwent surgery to battle skin cancer.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 42, revealed last October that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 of the disease and underwent surgery in December to remove melanoma from her back.

But she has now revealed that her medical team are investigating another suspicious patch on her arm.

In a post on Instagram, she gave an update on her surgery scar and shared news from her three-month check-up.

She wrote: ‘What a difference 3 months can make! My scar is healing nicely and I have the best doctors to thank.

“But in full transparency, even during my three-month follow-up visit, there was an abnormal spot that the doctor thought we should biopsy,” she revealed.

She shared the news on social media this week

Teddi urged her fans to get their skin checked out so they can avoid the kind of surgery she had

‘It’s on the other side of my body, so it’s nothing to pray for. But felt this is a good time to remind you to get those skin checks.’

Teddi underwent surgery at the end of last year after a new type of treatment to help her immune system fight the cancer cells did not work.

Ahead of the surgery, Teddi explained to fans on Instagram: ‘Long story short: The immunotherapy didn’t work on my melanomas.

‘I had an extensive excision of my most recent melanoma removed last week to see if it did and unfortunately it didn’t.

‘I have been presented with a few new options and I have decided with my doctors that the best next step is to have surgery on December 26th to remove a large portion of the problem area.

‘I don’t like going under and my anxiety pops out, but I believe that everything will be okay and that the reason this is happening to me is because I am able to raise awareness. (sic)’

Since the operation, Teddi has to be checked every three months.

Highlighting the importance of booking in skin checks, she added: ‘After surgery, when my margins are clear, we will continue to monitor my body closely every 3 months.

Ahead of the surgery, Teddi explained to fans on Instagram: ‘Long story short: The immunotherapy didn’t work on my melanomas. ‘I had a wide cut removed on my most recent melanoma last week to see if it did and unfortunately it didn’t

Teddy leaned on her husband Edwin Arroyave, 46, during her cancer battle

‘In the meantime, I’m so looking forward to spending Christmas with my loved ones and hope this is a reminder to book your skin checks for the new year.’

When she revealed her fresh scar from the surgery, one of the comments caught her attention.

‘Someone just messaged me that my scar looks like a whale swallowing bubbles. It made me laugh,’ she wrote at the time.

She continued: “I’m not very artistic so I just see a Z” – what do you see? #funnyresponseonly #skincancerawareness @curemelanoma.’
